Week 2: Monday, 10th Dec 2029, Morning
I woke to an unusual sight, Jennifer still beside me in bed, her breathing deep even in sleep. Normally, she'd be up before dawn, moving with that quiet efficiency that came from decades of discipline. But last night had been... thorough. What started as playful punishment for her cheeky comment about my sexuality had evolved into something far more intense after my victory over Mikhail. I'd needed the celebration, to release the tension that came with breaking a new acquisition, and Jennifer had borne the brunt of my enthusiasm.
What surprised me more was that Yoko had risen early. The little gremlin was usually dead to the world until noon, especially after nights like the last one. She'd been neglected lately while I focused on Mikhail, and her technical contributions to our operation deserved proper acknowledgment.
I gave Jennifer's bare hip a firm slap. She stirred slightly but didn't wake.
After freshening up, I found Yoko in the office, hunched over her laptop with a plate of what could generously be called "breakfast" sitting nearby. It looked like something a dog might refuse.
"You need to stop wasting food, Yoko," I said, eyeing the congealed mess.
She glanced up with that impish grin, fingers still dancing across keys. "Well, Master~" she drawled, adding a theatrical wink to the title, "considering all the nutritious **** gruel I've been consuming, my palate might be a tiny bit compromised. Couldn't exactly taste-test this masterpiece."
"Taste?" I picked up a spoonful and let it plop back down. "This looks inedible"
"Okay, okay! I was distracted." She spun her chair around to face me fully, expression shifting to something more serious. "I've got good news and bad news"
I lean on the edge of my desk. "Let's hear it."
"Someone tried to hack us this morning." Her tone became crisp, professional. "Clumsy attempt, really. Script kiddie level at best. I fed them some fabricated data."
"Any idea who?"
"Working theory, they're fishing for information about our newest addition. Not local, which rules out his street contacts. Could be Silver Fang remnants, suppliers, or..." her grin turned predatory, "that delightful lady he managed to piss off."
"You didn't trace them back?"
"I was busy!" She gestured at the ruined breakfast with mock indignation.
“Stick to IT and sucking cock, Yoko. I don’t think I’ve found anything else you’re good at.”
Yoko's laugh was pure mischief. "Oh, I left a little present in the decoy data packet. When they crack it open, and they will, I'll have complete access to their system. Should be fun~"
Her fingers were already flying across the keyboard again, that familiar gleam of anticipation in her eyes. This was Yoko in her element—the brilliant mind that had once stolen from me now working entirely in my service, finding genuine excitement in the challenge.
It was going to be an interesting week.
