What's next?

Pink Mohawk

“Alright, is everyone calmed down now?” Nadine asked. The group had reluctantly been returned to the back amicably with everyone being freed and no one being assailed by guards or bouncers.

“No!” Mithra shouted, crossing her arms tightly over her chest.

“I’m fine…” Garland said as he sat between Mithra and T, who he found out was named Trita.

Shedu looked around with surprise. “Jeeze, I’m surprised you all’re so friendly since there’s a war goin’ on!” She offered carelessly.

“About that…” Nadine cleared her throat. She was standing, leaning against the arm of one of the couches.

“I didn’t know. I’m mostly doin’ my own thing down here so I’m outta the loop, but the guys are my dad’s men so… well, I guess they aren’t. It wasn’t my idea for them to try and go for you, Mithra. Promise.”

“Still happened.” The gnoll grumbled.

“Also… I don’t give a shit about the war. I’m here to ask about something that’s even more important and that’s the loop.”

“Huh?” Nadine looked at her curiously. She genuinely did not seem to know anything, or she was good at offering no reaction.

“Wazzat?”

“What the fuck… Does ANYONE know?” Mithra looked around. She centred her gaze on Shedu angrily.

The girl raised her hands. “I-It was just a hunch! I didn’t expect we’d get into a fight.”

“I don’t really wanna fight. In fact, I don’t wanna be in a war at all. It’s bad for my business, it’s bad for your business. I don’t get why any of this shit started.” Nadine explained seriously.

“How the hell did we emd up crossing when we basically don’t even overlap.”

“Speak for yourself. You and I are enemies, as far as I’m concerned.” Mithra argued.

Nadine looked surprised. “We are?”

“Don’t play dumb!” Mithra pointed.

“You’re always trying to one up me! At the gym, at our old school, fucking everywhere!”

Nadine cocked her head to one side. “I thought we were competing. I didn’t think there was bad blood.” She sniffed.

“Usually I smell it a mile away.”

“Intelligence…” Trita said, holding up a 5 card.

“Hey! Put that down, dammit…” Nadine grumbled.

“Sorry, Mithra, I didn’t know you felt that way. I thought we were mates.”

“Hell no! We’re from rival gangs. As for the reason… well, my dad’s a fucking psycho.” Mithra admitted easily.

“Do you want a war, Mithra?” Garland asked cautiously.

“I don’t fucking care!” Mithra grunted.

“But… I guess I lean to the side of not wanting one.”

“Same.” Nadine said reasonably.

“We’re all decently positioned gals.” Garland cleared his throat.

“And guy.” She pointed with a heavy nod.

“We should try to stop this thing before it gets outta control.”

“We need to talk about this.” Mithra said flatly. Nadine and Trita shrugged and both stepped out of the room together. Once they were gone, Mithra was the first to speak.

“None of this shit matters.”

“What?” Garland reacted with surprise.

“Isn’t this going to affect your people negatively, too?”

“Who the fuck cares? We loop back and none of it happens, or all of it happens. Doesn’t matter.”

“Mithra’s right.” Shedu nodded.

“I was a tad off… but it seems to me like we just gotta focus on fixing this thing.”

Garland eyed them both. “No. You’re both dumb.”

“The fuck did you just say?” Mithra stood up.

Garland flinched slightly, but held his hands up. “Hear me out!”

“Better talk fast or I’m gonna give your lips and tongue something to do that won't annoy me!”

Garland gulped. As much as I’d like to- He blinked.

No! Stop. Thinking. That. Way. He shook it off, flushing just a bit, which confused Garland and Shedu. He finally explained himself.

“Look, you both wanna end this loop, right?” They both nodded along.

“Okay. What type of world do you WANT to be in once it’s fixed? A messed up one where everything is on fire, or a good one where everyone can actually be happy and everyone you know is alive and well?”

“The second one.” Mithra admitted.

“Right? I got screwed!” He stuck out his tongue.

“My Mom and Grandma think I’m a degenerate! I am so fucked right now!” Garland’s heart beat quickly as he raised his voice to a yell. Slowly he cooled off.

“But… Maybe the city doesn’t have to be the same way? Maybe someone, like us, can care about things and make things better. Every loop needs to be a good one. Every loop needs to be something where we’d be happy with it continuing because we don’t know when it’ll be fixed, when it’ll be randomly set ahead for some reason… We need to actually try!” He insisted.

Mithra stared at him long and hard. Shedu chuckled. “Well, that’s a nice speech and all but-”

Mithra suddenly clapped slowly. She nodded to him, her face a little flush behind her long bangs.

“Yeah. Yeah… You’re right. Fuck it. Make it a good one… That wasn’t too bad of a speech for a little bitch… I’m still gonna see about making you more and more embarrassed. Still wanna save the city?” She asked.

“Yeah.” Garland nodded.

Mithra whistled. “Then I guess we’re fuckin’ doing this.”

“What!?” Shedu gasped. She flinched as Mithra stared daggers at her.

“Nobody said anything about you having to come.”

“I dunno why you’re on me! I’m not the one that messed around with your scholarship.” Shedu blurted out.

“What?” Mithra let out hoarsely. Shedu smiled subtly as she saw Mithra’s face and heard her surprised tone.

“Oops…” She feigned.

“I uh… I thought maybe you knew. I looked into you two a bit before coming over. Sorry!”

Mithra looked at Garland. Garland, fidgeting, nodded. “Yeah. It was me. I didn’t want to go to the same college. I was stupid.”

Mithra teared up behind her bangs. She was gritting her teeth hard, her lips curled down in a deep scowl. She strutted up to Garland who was sitting low in his chair and said close to his ear.

“You’re already paying me back. For everything. Add one more to the list… who the fuck cares…”

“Wooow. So forgiving!” Shedu clapped excitedly. She fell back off the chair onto the floor as Mithra suddenly closed the distance and pointed right in her face.

“You!”

“Me!?”

“Little shit stirrer! The fuck are you doing?”

“N-nothing I promise! M-my tongue slipped! See?” She stuck her tongue out.

“Ueeeh!”

“Surrounded by idiots.” Mithra grumbled.

“I already fucking knew, obviously.” She remarked to Garland.

“Sucks to remember. Sucks to think about shit that could be.”

“If I, right now, could go back and change things I would…”

Mithra smirked. “Oh yeah? You’d suck my cock when I asked?” Garland blushed. He didn’t answer. Mithra got all she needed out of that silence.

“That’s what I th-”

“Yes!” Garland blurted out.

“Eh?” Mithra’s eye and her ears twitched.

“Yeah! If I went back, I’d suck your cock.” Garland said forwardly. He closed his eyes, preparing himself. He inhaled deeply and shouted.

“Because I like it!”

Mithra took a step back. “Y-you…”

“Yeah, that’s right!” Garland stood up and pointed at her.

“I was WRONG. I’ll say it. I was wrong. That’s okay… It’s not okay what I did but it’s fine that I was figuring myself out, right!?” Mithra’s mouth opened and closed but no words were spoken. She just kept stepping back as Garland advanced rather forwardly.

“So yeah. I WOULD suck your cock! I would do a good job of it. I’d be great at it! Got it?” He huffed.

“I’m sorry…”

“You better be!” Mithra stammered.

“You’re MY bitch so talking back to me like that makes me wanna sh-shove you down and…” She sounded uncertain, even to Garland.

He looked up at her, seeing her eyes peeking through. “Mithra…”

“Sh-shut the fuck up. I’m fine. Just caught me off guard. You bastard… Better not being fuckin’ lying…” She turned around.

“I just need a minute. In fact… Nadine! We’re ready to talk!”

“How did things end up like this.” Garland wondered out loud. He was sitting in the back seat of a vintage convertible, wind blowing his hair and his tails all around annoyingly. Trita was sitting beside him. She overheard and rapidly rehashed the plan.

“You see, if any of us go around and do the things we plan to do, we’ll just be seen as an addition to the war. But… We’re the next generation of BOTH sides so that means that whatever we do can be seen as a protest against the status quo. Sticking it to the man. We hit key points belonging to our gang and Mithra’s gang and use it as a way to **** the players to calm down. Basically, disarming them before they have a chance to shoot.”

“I know…” Garland grumbled.

“Huh?”

“I was just wondering more… Philosophically.”

“Shit…” Trita looked to be in thought.

“Nobody knows that.”

“When did you start deciding you were going to talk a bunch?” He asked her.She stared back silently as if they were not just having a conversation.

“I see…” She smiled and made an ok sign.

“Buckle up buckeroos!” Nadine shouted, pumping her fist into the air as she pushed the pedal down and screeched around a corner.

“The bridge is goin’ up!”

All of you looked ahead and saw it beginning to be raised. “No no…” Garland muttered. He had already fastened his belt like a good boy.

“Let me off! You don’t NEED to jump the bridge, We’re not going that way!” He argued vehemently.

“Turn around!”

“Gahaha! I’m not doin’ it cause I have to! I’m doin’ it cause I want to!” She swerved past the barrier that was lowering and up the rising bridge. She shifted into a new geer and rocketed up the ramp.

“You can breathe under water, right!?”

“No!” Came a collective shout from everyone except Nadine and Trita.

Garland tensed up as he could feel the whole car going nearly vertical as the bridge raised for a passing supertransport. Looking over he could see that Mithra was livid; completely pale and as stiff as stone. He grabbed her hand and to his surprise, she grabbed it back as you all went over.

“Uh oh! We’re not gonna make it!” Nadine shouted past the rush of wind. Everyone braced, then, very soon, too soon they felt the suspension bounce as the muscle car landed on the top deck of the super ship.

“Kidding! This was the goal the whole time. We’re gonna hit this!”

Mithra was bent over, banging her head on the front seat. “W-what the hell do you mean!? We’re on a boat! You can’t drive on a boat!” Garland shouted.

“Yeah you can! Look, it’s open road!” Shedu pointed ahead, bouncing in shotgun position.

“Well spoken~” Nadine revved.

“T! You ready to start some shit?”

Garland looked over. The merfolk girl reached into the pouch on the back of the seat, popped a pair of sunglasses on and stood up in the back. As the engine kept revving she pulled the back seat forward and reached into the trunk, pulling out and throwing a lot of trash away… Dildo’s, stuffed animals… Finally she drew a very big, heavy-looking claymore from the back like a sheath. She stood up, one foot on the seat and one on the back of the convertible. She reached forward. Wordlessly Nadine handed back a stick of gum that the girl popped into her mouth.

“Are we ready!?” Nadine shouted, revving the engine.

Mithra finally raised her head, coming back to the world of the living. She gripped the belt and tried to treat it as she fumbled with the clip.

“G-get me off!” She looked around and noticed armed seafolk goons beginning to swarm from every angle between storage containers.

“At least fucking GO!” Mithra begged.

“Checklist!” Nadine stated. T nodded.

“Sword?” T gave a thumbs up as Nadine stared in the rear view mirror with a wide, mad grin.

“Sunglasses.” T gave a thumbs up. The engine revved again. She took it into gear. The back end began to drift as the tires spun without the front actually budging. Smoke rose from the back tires quickly.

“Gum. Check~” Nadine cooed.

“Last one… Music!” She pounded the old dash of the car, causing the most rough and out of tune rock music to start blaring through the speakers as the car took off.

T in her fishnet tights over one leg and the other fully covered in ripped up jeans stood easily in the back, waiting and bouncing her head to the tunes as she blew pink bubbles from her mouth with the gum. She was in a shortened band shirt with long gloves covering her arms from her wrists to her shoulders. Instead of the elegant blue headdress she wore as a dancer her head was adorned with a bright neon pink, jagged one and her frill from front down to her back on the top of her head was also bright pink, to contrast her blue skin and blue hair. Finally as they passed a cable she casually swung the sword, clipping it as Nadine swerved close, narrowly avoiding a mook. Then another and another.

The ship seemed to go on forever and behind them all the containers began to shift and collapse. Mithra finally got her seatbelt off by chewing through it and pushed her way into the front.

“That’s it! Stop this fucking thing you bitch!”

“Gahaha! We don’t got a choice~” She pointed up ahead. All eyes widened, except T’s which were behind sunglasses. She adjusted them as they saw a road… a ship block up ahead. There was a huge mechanical loader put in the way up ahead. She cut one last wire, then kicked the trunk to pop it. She then kicked it again to pop it off and bent down to grab a very big tube with a pointed projectile in the end. She turned around and lined up a shot as they got closer.

“G-get it! The fucking loader, the loader!” Mithra ordered, pointing desperately.

T almost seemed to agree. She paused, blew a bubble, then suddenly lifted the tub above. The rocket spiralled out of it and hit a huge junction of cabling holding all the cargo in place. As soon as she hit it with a loud Boom, followed by a SNAP, everything, including the deck they were driving on became bumpy, bouncy and unstable. The deck itself began to fold like a wave. Nadine kicked it into a lower gear, turned and drifted up over the loader onto the unsteady containers at the last second. She drove precisely, bouncing over from container to container as more fell. She kicked the gear back up as she climbed the avalanche of containers like a ladder until they stopped… all that was ahead of them was the bridge where several terrified humans were watching the car. Garland could see the reflection of them in the glass. Trita ducked down as it drifted through and skidded to a stop at the back of the bridge.

There was a silence as the car’s engine sputtered to a stop. Nadine kicked the door open and looked around, waving smoke out of her face.

“Alright, listen u- Oh…” She blinked.

“W-what? What is it now!?” Mithra asked.

Nadine looked back with a nervous grin. “Wrong ship~”

Red lights and sirens ignited the port.
