Lia's Confession
We woke up fairly early the next morning, Dahl and Lia snuggled close to me, breathing softly. If I hadn't seen them open their eyes briefly, I would have believed them to be asleep.
I leaned closer, kissing their forehead. "Good morning~"
They giggled quietly, their embrace tightening. "Morning, love~"
"So, not feeling like getting up right away?"
"Nope~ I want you for myself a bit longer, before Dahl tags in." Lia replied, pecking my lips. "I messaged Laura earlier, she told me she'd be up for hanging out this afternoon."
"Are you sure you want to let Dahl handle everything?" I asked her, remembering the conversation we had last night with David. "You can be with Laura as yourself, and tell her the truth. I'm sure she would accept you as well."
She looked away, sighing. "I don't deserve that... I've been a bitch to her for so long... and even when you wore her the first time, I... almost went too far."
I held her closer. "Lia, you keep beating yourself up for things that happened in the past. You've changed, and you are allowed a second chance. Believe in yourself and in Laura."
She stayed silent for a short moment before sighing. "Maybe... I'll think about it during the day." She then got up and stretched, glancing at me and smiling slightly. "Thanks, love."
I got up and joined her, getting dressed in something comfy and sporty in case Laura was in the mood for some skateboarding. Cargo pants, a tanktop, and some high-top sneakers. I added a bandana for style.
Lia also chose something easy to move in, a pair of beige pleated shorts, a white crop top, and white ballerina flats.
She looked so pretty I couldn't resist nibbling her neck from behind, my arms wrapped around her. "I love you so much, my cute fiancée~"
She put her hands on my arms, giving them a soft squeeze and giggling. "I love you too, my hot fiancée~"
We kissed and hugged a few more times before going downstairs, where Lia's parents were already preparing breakfast. We greeted them happily and ate together. David was still sleeping. He always was a late-riser whenever he didn't have school, apparently.
He finally joined us as we were helping wash the dishes, yawning and wearing a pajama with Pokemon on it.
"Morning, David." I said, smiling warmly at him.
He tensed slightly in our presence, his eyes jumping between me and Lia a few times.
"We've left you a plate in the microwave if you're hungry." Lia added. "Did you sleep well?"
"Uhh, kinda..." David hesitantly replied, grabbing his breakfast. "Thanks."
As David was eating, their parents wished us a good day and left for work. They took a day off to receive us yesterday, but it was already over, and they now returned to their workaholic ways.
It left us alone with David, and Lia and I could see that even if he accepted us, he was still nervous in our presence.
"You can relax, David, we told you we had no intention of hurting you, or anyone else for that matter." I said, sitting in front of him.
"I... I was wondering if last night was real..." He admitted, toying with his spoon.
"It's real, yeah. Laura had the same reaction when we revealed the truth to her." I replied, unable to contain a small giggle.
"I know it's weird and probably creepy, but I hope you'll get used to it after a while, David." Lia added.
"M-maybe..." He spoke, observing me. "You... You were really a man?"
I smiled. "Yeah, but this me doesn't really exist anymore. I don't feel like a man, and the mere thought of becoming one again fills me with discomfort."
"You're trans?" David then asked, surprising both me and Lia.
I scratched my chin, becoming pensive. "I guess I am? Although my situation is a lot different than most trans people, considering how easily I can fix my dysphoria now."
"I suppose it is different..." He replied.
"We're meeting with Laura this afternoon, if you wanna tag along." Lia then said. "But Dahl will be the one present."
"I can come." David said. "I haven't seen her in a while."
Lia smiled. "Alright."
We waited for David to finish his breakfast, chatting with him about his school life and his plans for college. Afterwards, we went to play some Smash together until it was time for us to join Laura. I grabbed my skateboard, staying next to the siblings while enjoying the soft summer breeze brushing against my face.
Laura chose a small skatepark near the town's high-school as our meeting point, and when we arrived, she was already there, doing tricks and riding. She seemed focused, not noticing our presence until I decided to join her in the bowl.
"Hey Laura." I said with a friendly wave.
"Oh, hi. Sorry, I didn't see you." She then saw David and smiled at him. "Hey Davey. How are you?"
David smiled back a bit shyly. "F-fine, mainly. A... A bit perturbed by what I learnt last night, still."
Laura tilted her head. "Hmm?"
Dahl spoke. "David discovered our... secret. He knows about skinwalkers."
It greatly surprised Laura. "Damn, really? No wonder you're perturbed, Davey." She approached him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Dahl and Yun are good people, though, don't worry."
"How... How did you feel when you learnt the truth?" David asked.
Laura chuckled softly. "Stunned, lost, a bit scared... But Dahl has been a close friend ever since she became Dahl, so I trusted her. And Yun's sister was here to calm me down, too."
"I-I see..."
Laura opened a pack of cigarette and was about to take one, but stopped and put the pack back in her bag. "Things were awkward for a while between us, though. I needed some time to unpack everything I was told."
"What do you... think of Dahl? Compared to my sister?" David then asked more hesitantly, surprising me and Dahl.
Laura stayed quiet for a moment, looking at her board. "Well, Dahl is a great person, no matter if she's a skinwalker. She's kind and caring, and always up to help people. As for your sister, I always had the feeling she hated herself, deep down. When Dahl came out as a lesbian, it just made sense, you know? At least for me."
"You suspected it?" I asked, not expecting her answer.
"Maybe she even had a crush on me." Laura added with a quiet laugh. "Would you tell me if that were true, Dahl?"
I could see in Dahl's eyes that this question put her on the spot. She was most likely debating with Lia what to say. This silence was noticed by David and Laura as well, who observed Dahl with a confused and worried look.
"Dahl?" Laura inquired. "You okay?"
She took a deep breath, her posture shifting slightly. I knew what it meant now.
"You're right, Laura. I was a lesbian, and I hated myself for that, for not being... normal. And I did have a crush on you in high-school." Lia said.
"Huh?"
"It doesn't excuse what I've done to you and your friends, though. But know that I've spent the last two years regretting it deeply."
"Why are you talking like this, Dahl?" Laura asked, confused by this change in tone.
"I'm not Dahl. I'm Lia, the... original Dahlia." Lia admitted with a sigh, avoiding Laura's gaze. "It's something we still hid from you until now. Dahl has a unique... ability, allowing her to awaken the consciousness of those she wears. I've always been here, by her side, observing her fixing my life for me."
Laura seemed stunned. "Are... Are you serious?"
"She is. I learnt about it during our stay in London, and David knows since yesterday, too." I answered. "Lia has been riddled with guilt, she didn't feel like she deserved to be forgiven."
"I'm sorry, Laura... For everything I've done before, and for hiding the truth from you." Lia more shamefully added, her head still low.
Laura approached her and pulled her into a hug. "It's okay, Lia. I forgive you." She then chuckled softly. "You never seem to run out of things to surprise me, you two. Or I guess you three?"
"It should be the last surprise." I said, giggling. I was relieved it went well, but I had faith in Laura.
"Thank you, Laura." Lia said, smiling. A few tears of happiness were running down her cheeks. "And no, we're not hiding anything else."
"So, hmm, you and Dahl are like... sharing your body?" Laura then asked.
Lia nodded. "Yeah. Although it's only been a few months since I was able to control it as well. I used to be a spectator, speaking with Dahl in her mind. Kinda like DID, but more... skinwalker-specific."
"Well, after the insane reveal of skinwalkers and other monsters, I guess this is far from the craziest surprise coming from you. And you know, it's not like I really hated you even in high-school. Sure, we fought a lot, but you know I'm not one to hold grudges."
I came closer and hugged Lia from behind, wrapping my arms around her neck and kissing her cheek. "I told you, Lia."
Lia kissed me back lovingly. "Yep."
Laura still seemed curious about this whole situation. "How is it like to be two people in one body, exactly?"
Lia became pensive for a brief moment, before giggling cutely. "Well, we're not lonely, we always have each other's company. We can talk whenever we want. While it wasn't easy for me at first, I wouldn't trade what the two of us have for anything in the world. Dahl and I will never be separated."
"I'm happy you're fine with this. I don't think I'd like sharing my body with someone else... especially after what happened last time..." Laura muttered that last part dejectedly. It still weighted on her mind, understandably so.
We decided not to press things further, and instead tried to change the topic. Laura and I skated together for a bit, and we then visited the town, Laura, Lia, and David showing me some of their favourite spots, like the library, the game store, the main park in front of the town hall, and some nice restaurants and cafes. The town was fairly small, but had a really cosy atmosphere, it was relaxing and charming.
I enjoyed this afternoon spent with Laura, but we had to part ways as Laura had to return home for dinner. Wishing her a good evening, we returned to Lia's home.
Her parents weren't back yet, so we decided to prepare dinner together, choosing a Korean dish like I offered yesterday. David helped us, and the three of us had a lot of fun. I was relieved to see him less tense around us. Their parents arrived right as we were done with the cooking, and we enjoyed a delicious meal together, them and David praising the dish.
Finally, after showering, Lia and I went to her room, laying on the bed and hugging each othee tenderly.
"I really should listen to you more often, Yun..." She muttered, her head comfortably nested in between my chest. "It was scary, you know?"
I gently caressed her ginger hair. "Yeah, I know. But it went well."
"Trusting people is hard, but Dahl and I are trying."
"I mean, nobody would blame you for having trust issues, considering your situation. But now it's done, and you can be open with Laura and David."
She giggled quietly. "Yeah. I'm glad. I didn't want to keep lying to them forever. Thanks, Yun." She then let out a soft sigh. "Ah, your chest is so comfy...~"
"A shame it's smaller than yours, hmm?"
"Nah, it's perfect~ Just like the rest of you~" She said in a loving tone. She rose her head and gave me a languid kiss, her tongue playing with mine. "I love you, Yun~"
"I love you too, Lia~"
