Meeting the community, Part 1

"So, who am I meeting, exactly?" Sue asked Kara. She'd come into this meeting extremely curious; she'd wondered if she'd see some familiar faces among the superheroes she was about to meet. She'd been in this universe long enough now to know that there were indeed dimensional counterparts to her colleagues and friends that existed here, as well as other superpowered individuals that hadn't existed in her world. She was aware of the X-Men and Avengers here, as well as groups she'd never encountered in her old home, such as the Justice League and the Titans. However, there was seemingly no Fantastic Four; eventually, Sue knew she'd have to look into that. Today, though, she'd agreed to meet some of Kara's adventurer friends.

"I thought we'd start with some of my closer friends," Kara answered. "At some point, you're obviously gonna meet the big guns. The Justice League. The Avengers. I'm sure those guys would love to have someone like you on their team... but I figured I'd ease you into things first."

"I appreciate it," Sue answered. "I'm still trying to get my bearings here."

"I know. No need to rush things," Kara answered.

"So... who will we be meeting today, then?" Sue asked, a little anxious. "For example, do you know who I'm talking about if I ask you if there's a Spider-Man in this world?"

"Good guy, kind of a dork, makes some of the lamest dad jokes I've ever heard?" Kara asked back.

"Exactly! So he exists here?" Sue responded. She was pleased to hear that her close friend was still alive somewhere in this world, even if it wasn't exactly the same man she'd known.

"Yeah, he's a pretty big deal for the Avengers," Kara answered.

Sue raised an eyebrow; clearly this Spider-Man had a different history than the one she knew. Was it the same for Reed? Ben? Johnny? Did they even exist here? Did she have a counterpart?

"Personally, I'm a lot closer to his protege, Ghost-Spider. She's one of the friends we're gonna be meeting up with," Kara continued.

Sue's eyes narrowed slightly. "Ghost-Spider? Can't say I know that name."

"She's awesome. I'm sure you two will get along great," Kara said. "We'll also be meeting two other friends of mine: Koriand'r, of the Titans -- you've probably heard of Starfire -- and Jean Grey of the X-Men."

"I know Jean Grey. Or rather, I knew *a* Jean Grey," Sue said. "Can't say I know much about Starfire other than the name."

"Well get ready, because I'm planning on introducing you to a lot of people. Friends, colleagues, even people I don't like much... I've got a feeling you're going to do a lot of good here. When you're ready, of course."

Sue blushed slightly at the compliment. It was obvious both Kara & Lois had a good feeling about her, and she was increasingly determined to live up to their expectations. "Go right ahead. If this is going to be my new home, I'll need to meet the neighborhood sooner or later," Sue said.

"Good to hear. I'm sure you find a place to fit in soon," Kara said. "Might as well start networking now."
