A new, more personal obsession.

By the time Sean returned from lunch, he barely had time to log into his computer before getting back to work. It wasn't until about ten minutes had passed that he realized he had a missed notification. He rolled his eyes in annoyance when he saw that he was going to be **** to make another change. He looked around and saw that everyone was still lingering around and talking after lunch, finishing the conversations that started while they ate. Maya was nowhere to be seen and no one was paying him any attention, so he unlocked his phone, loaded up The App, and read the message.

"WARNING: THE TIMER HAS EXPIRED AND THE CHANGE HAS BEEN CHOSEN FOR YOU. TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, YOU MUST MAKE A CHANGE WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT."

Sean's heart was beating out of his chest as he tapped, "Accept" and loaded up the change. As he read it, he almost dropped his phone trying to look around for Maya. This would complicate this quite a bit: "Maya Hernandez is secretly obsessed with you."

He read and reread the change at least nine times. It didn't feel any better as he read it again and again. Off in the distance he heard Maya's bright laughter. She seemed to be heading back to her desk, late from lunch as usual. When she rounded the corner, he made brief eye contact with his stunning Latina coworker before she smiled like normal and sat down at her desk. Sean watched for any change in her behavior before he decided that "secretly" must mean that she is being good at hiding this new...or old obsession, from her perspective.

He worked the rest of his day in peace and only spoke to Maya when he needed to, or if she talked to him. When four o'clock hit, Sean told his coworkers and boss, David, goodbye then headed out of the building to go home.
