Smith snorted bitterly. "That's what I thought too, and the work is important enough that it really should, and I genuinely enjoy it... But the government is full of cheapskates!" she huffed. "Why do you think I mooch off of people I work with? And do the bare minimum? My bosses are getting what they pay for, pure and simple."
