The doc's late

Summertime in Cyber City could be wickedly hot, and Laine felt beads of sweat across her brow by the time she made it into work. Sighing in relief as she stepped inside the stark contrast that was the frigid air conditioning. Enjoying the quiet halls of the early morning she made her way to Julia's office. Julia was the cyber-doc Laine had been working with. She was about the same age as Laine, but a full head shorter, and with a softer more rounded shape. Knocking on her door, Laine eagerly awaited seeing her friendly face, framed by that long curly brown hair, but no response came. Checking the time Laine patiently knocked again, but there was still no response. Sighing, she leaned against the wall and decided to send some quick emails. She was interrupted however when a young intern approached her. Keeping her face neutral she studied him, it was very common for the young guys to approach her with some insignificant problem to use as an excuse to talk to her. She figured it had something to do with her seniority but whatever the reason, she disliked wasting her own time, and so as per usual she answered his questions quickly and gently shut down his attempts at small talk. He did a better job than most at hiding his disappointment but left all the same, leaving her to continue waiting on Julia. However, when Laine went to return to leaning on the wall her skirt had other ideas. Latching it with her left hand that morning hadn't quite done the trick as it popped undone and slid over her ass before landing in a pool at her feet. Shocked by the cold concrete on her ass Laine gasped as she realized her skirt had abandoned her. Shoving her good hand over her thin black panties her eyes bolted to the intern, but... he hadn't noticed. Terrified to move she glanced behind her but graciously the hallway was empty, so she stood absolutely still as the man walked away. After an eternity he rounded the corner and Laine doubled over, desperately grabbing at the ring of cloth. Her cybernetic arm refused to move, leaving her wrestling to shimmy the skirt back up her legs, but in her panic progress was slow. Heartbeat pounding in her ears, she missed the sound of heels clicking down the hall until the very last moment. Jerking her head up Laine's hand shook as a woman with curly brown hair rounded the corner.
