Swallowing hard, a rising tide of emotion makes you want to sob, "Its obvious that you two are doing ok for yourselves, and I'm not sure my being here can do anything but hurt the two of you." You can feel your eyes watering, on the verge of tears.

Across from you, tears flow freely down Rei's face, "But you've got to stay," Her voice is pleading.

"Its for the best," You struggle to hold back your tears, "I appreciate everything that you've done for me, but I just dont know how my being here can be anything but a strain on your resources."

Rei stands up from the table, running off into another part of the house.

When Lance walks up to the table, he sits near you, placing a hand on your shoulder as he looks you in the eyes, "She'll be fine," He begins, "She's always been emotional, and she has a heart filled with compassion, but in time, she'll come to understand your decision."

Sighing, he looks thoughtful, "I've got a couple of cabins set up for if we ever have to leave here in a hurry. I'll drive you to one of them later today. There'll be food and water enough to keep you going for maybe a month." Lance shrugs, looking like he isn't sure what else to say.

"That would be great," You say, realizing that he's offering you a real chance.
