What To Do?
Investigate The Cold Cases
Approaching the terminal, Sargent Pembroke glances over her shoulder, presumably having heard the dull clang of robotic footsteps approaching.
“Something I can do for you?” She says, swiveling around in her office chair to look up at the automaton.
“I request access to the cold case terminal, with any luck I may be able to resolve one.”
“More then one is my hope but alright, consider access granted..!” She says, rising from her seat and offering it to Violet, presumably forgetting that robots do not feel tired from standing for prolonged periods however in order to avoid conflict, Violet accepts the offered seat.
The terminal is already on and pulled up to the folder with the various case details on screen; it would appear that Sargent Pembroke had also been reviewing the cold cases.
The cases in question have been filed under a myriad of dates, some going back years and some having been logged only a few days ago, ranging from theft to murder and all everything in between with each of the files host to details pertaining to the case, crime scene locations, the lead investigator at the time, witnesses, victims and evidence retrieved over the course of the initial investigation.
Another thing of note is that each of the cold cases are filed under colorful titles as opposed to a proper case number, things like ‘The Children Of Whitechapel’ or ‘The Red Heel Murder’ names seemingly ripped out of an old police drama.
Glancing to Sargent Pembroke, Violet gets her answer with a shrug. “It’s easier to keep track of names than numbers.”
“Many of these cases make mention of recovered evidence and yet I have not located an evidence lockup in my tour of the station…”
“Most evidence is kept at a separate location same place we keep our prisoners in fact, one of the most well defended locations in the whole city.” States Pembroke, sitting on the edge of the desk as she speaks.
“Really..? And… what exactly is this place..? It appears it will be my next stop once I’m through here.”
“Pfft, hell if I know what it was called, we just call it the Fortress… see it’s got these walls all around it and cells on the inside, already built… my thinking is it was some kind of military installation.. or a prison.” She says nonchalantly as she glances across the terminals screen.
Violet lets the matter rest for the time being returning her focus to the terminal screen, using the ancient mouse to slowly scroll through it, sensors glancing across the myriad files and ancient cases before eventually finding one that shows promise.
