The Investigation of The Happy Cows Corporation (Mind Control | Hucow | Expansion)

I didn't like that I had to drive all the way out into the middle of nowhere to investigate a multiple missing persons case, but it seemed like nobody else was concerned with taking the job. There were rumors circulating around the internet, and it seemed like the Happy Cows Corporation had tried to buy off all of the news outlets to not report on the fact that their female employees just disappear. It wasn't as if they were just quitting their jobs and moving away. A mother of one of the women had called me, and she was so **** to find her daughter, that she was willing to pay whatever my fee was, plus extra, for me to look into the matter.

When I arrived at the place, it caught me by surprise how sophisticated a facility that raises cattle could be despite being such such a rural area. I had called earlier pretending to be an investigator for a law enforcement agency, they didn't need to know I had zero right to be there.

I stepped up to a metal door that was attached to a stereotypical red barn building with a sign above that said "Happy Cows! Check in Here!" There was an intercom, and I pressed the button. A man's voice came through, "Welcome to Happy Cows. How can I help 'Moo' today?", there was a faint chuckle in the background. I get it, it was a lame pun.

"Detective Aliyah Lotuya, I called earlier for an inquiry into a missing persons situation, and was hoping to have some questions answered."

There was a brief pause, before the voice replied. "Sure thing. Please, come right in." I heard a loud buzzing noise and the door popped open, and I went inside. The interior was a bit strange, as if it was a combination of a modern office, and some sort of sci-fi laboratory...Very un-farmlike.

A man approached me, he was wearing a lab coat, and had a friendly face, his hand extended. "Welcome, Ms. Lotuya, was it? I'm Dr. Kovac. I am actually the director of this particular facility for Happy Cows Corp. I'm not sure what I can help you with. You see, most of our employees leave to pursue other interests after a few months, or get hired away to other jobs. There is no law against that, is there?" He chuckled again, his voice was very soothing and pleasant.
I shook his hand, his grip was very firm. "No, but a mother reported her daughter has been missing for over 3 months. She was working a job here pior to her disappearance. Her friend also worked here, the mother said she's missing too. The daughter was Mariebelle Thomas, and her friend, Olivio Suzo." I said, showing him the pictures of both women.

He nodded and looked pretty delighted to see the pictures "Yes, both ladies worked here, and they did so well, they actually were promoted, and now work at the corporate headquarters in California. Due to the nature of their promotion, I actually can't disclose more than that."

I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "They were promoted... and yet they didn't let their parents know?"

Dr. Kovak seemed to be irked at the additional question. "I'm sorry the answer doesn't satisfy you, Ms. Lotuya, I can't divulge more."

I pulled out a fake badge (something every private investigator should carry) and spoke, "Dr. Kovak, given that this is a federal matter, I'm going look around this whole facility for clues to this investigation."

Dr. Kovak didn't seem pleased, but suddenly smiled something sinister, his voice became more calm and pleasant. "Well, then, at the very least, let me escort you to where they worked for us last then. This way please."

We walked together down a hall and came to a set of elevators on the left. He pressed the button, and the doors opened. We entered the elevator, and I felt something was very wrong as he pressed a button marked "-6".

"You're telling me this place as six levels below ground...Seems rather strange for a place that raises farm animals." I nervously laughed.

"We do a lot of things here, Ms. Lotuya...As you will see shortly." I saw him reach his hand reached into his pocket out of the corner of my eye and pull out a syringe.

I turned around, but too late to react "What are yo-", he stuck the needle in my arm and emptied the contents of the syringe into me. I felt myself get a bit dizzy, as my vision blurred and I passed out right before hearing the elevator ding.
