What do you do next?
You question why he's here
You tilted your head slightly, intrigued by his presence. "Why are you here?" you asked, your voice carrying over the storm's roar. The soldier hesitated, his gaze dropping to the sand before meeting yours again.
"Patrol," he said simply, though his tone betrayed his reluctance. You raised an eyebrow, sensing the underlying frustration.
"Not a task you enjoy, I take it?" His jaw tightened, and he nodded curtly.
"It's... not my choice." The admission was reluctant, but it sparked a flicker of amusement in you. You stepped closer, the sand crunching beneath your feet, and he flinched slightly, though he didn't back away.
"You're lucky," you said, your voice light and teasing, the words carried on the edge of a laugh. "Most mortals never get to see me so... unguarded." The storm seemed to hum in agreement, the lightning casting fleeting highlights on the water droplets clinging to your form. The soldier's eyes widened slightly, his cheeks flushing despite the chill of the rain, and you found the reaction endearing. "A Goddess, relaxed and unburdened by the weight of the world," you continued, your tone playful, "It's a rare sight, one you should cherish."
