A short timeskip to field training!

"So, this is my training now?" Felix grunted as he followed Robin through the streets on Friday night. He'd been teleported to Gotham by Zatanna at the hero's request.

"Yes. Seeing as you now have some superpowers, we're starting you out slow," Robin explained, grappling his way up to a rooftop, Felix just jumping up after him. "Field experience is the best teacher after all."

Felix looked at Robin skeptically. "You said you're starting me off slow... in what world is tossing me into the most crime ridden city on the planet "taking it slow?"" he asked.

Robin turned a slow gaze towards Felix. "The same world where threats like Darkseid, Trigon, Doomsday and Brainiac exist. Not to mention megalomaniacs such as Lex Luthor if you're looking for someone currently on Earth alone."

Felix paused. "...retracted. Though I will point out two words to you: The Joker," Felix replied, remembering a few news stories where that particular problem had casued issues for the whole League despite supposedly being a "street level" villain.

"...yes, that particular wannabe clown is a problem," Robin conceded. "But he's currently in Arkham with multiple broken bones... and yes, I know he easily breaks out on a regular basis, but he tends to at least wait until he recovers from the last beatdown Batman gave him before he does so. Though sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't just kill the bastard. I know Batman never will, and while I concede it's noble to not want to decide who lives and who dies... I wonder if that's unavoidable in our line of work."

"What do you mean?" Felix asked Robin, turning his head as they jumped rooftops in their little patrol.

"...I mean... it's just that as long as Batman keeps letting some of his worst enemies live, Joker at the top of that list, they'll just keep on killing others..." Robin sighed. "At some point... one has to wonder, how much responsibility do we bear for that?"

Felix couldn't come up with an answer for that. Personally, he agreed that no one person should have to be judge, jury and executioner, but at the same time, the Gotham justice system was clearly not doing its job. Joker should have gotten the **** penalty long ago. "So, we just patrol, find some crimes going on, and then you see if I can stop it?" Felix asked, and Robin nodded.

"Yes. This is your first test. Given you have superhuman abilities now, this should be a cakewalk," Robin smirked. "Just make sure whenever we spar in the future, you don't use any of them. Skills are still worth having." Felix nodded and kept his eyes peeled.
