It Was Just A Slip-Up, I Swear

Why him, of all people?

Chapter 1 by Papas_Liebling Papas_Liebling

It was just a slip-up, I swear.

Basically, to blame was Fabian, my husband, anyway. Since we got married almost two years ago, we had been trying to start a family. I had been so sure that it would happen quickly that I hadn't even bothered to look for a new job after quitting my old job and moving out of my apartment to move in with him in the city. And now I was sitting here, lonely and bored in our shared apartment, while he went to work every day. “One of us has to earn a living,” he said when I tried to talk to him about it. That ass.

Of course I had been to the gynecologist and had a check-up. There was nothing wrong with me. But Fabian refused to be examined, with increasingly ridiculous excuses. I was convinced that it was really his male ego that couldn't bear to have to find out that he couldn't father a child. And yet, to this day, I hadn't given up. It was that time of the month again. I could swear that I could feel I was ovulating. Actually, I should drag Fabian straight to our bed as soon as he came home, no matter how stressed and exhausted he was from his office day.

I sat at the kitchen table with my head buried in my hands, brooding. I hadn't touched my breakfast yet. I'd lost all appetite. Did I want to go on like this? What sense did all this make anymore?

So lost in thought, the shrill ringing of the doorbell startled me. Oh, crap, I grumbled. It was probably a delivery man who wanted to drop off a package for one of the neighbors. Since the guys had figured out that I was usually at home, they didn't bother ringing the neighbors' doorbells anymore and always tried to get rid of their deliveries right away at mine. In a bad mood, I shuffled to the front door and pressed the buzzer. Leaning in the doorframe, I waited and looked into the stairwell as heavy footsteps came quickly up the stairs. I didn't care that I was standing there with my hair still disheveled from sleep, wearing only my nightgown and the dressing gown not quite closed over it. Whoever rang my doorbell so early would have to deal with the spectacle I gave them.

Hi guys,

this is my first story that I'm publishing in English. I'm pretty nervous and hope that it is well received.
Since English is not my first language, I would appreciate any helpful tips and suggestions for improvement.
Feel free to write in the comments what you think of the story.
And of course, your own chapters are very welcome if you want to take the trouble to contribute.

Sweet greetings, Daddy's Darling ♡

Who's that showing up on your doorstep?
