Exhibition and Corruption Stories with my Landlord

You reach the House where you will be staying for now. You just recently changed jobs this making you change to a city. But your job is mostly Work From Home and will have to go to office physically only for a few hours a week. So you are not looking for an expensive place in the city, instead you went for a cheap and peaceful place in the outskirts of the city.

(Switching to 1st person POV)

Hmmm, the place looks old but good condition. The people in the nearby town said the landlord and their kid are good people. Apparently the landlord is a workaholic and their spouse died a couple of years ago, that's sad. I heard their kid (18+, but the MC still doesn't know that) was also a nerdy, discipled, which is awesome to hear.

The place looks great compared to the rent and is near a bus terminal so I can travel to the city easily when needed. A few shops near the town in the opposite direction.

There isn't much houses nearby, which may be concerning and the walls are 7 feet tall, maybe wildlife problem? Either ways I guess it's good for privacy. I entered the gate and saw that there was a garden almost in the corner of the house extending behind the house beyond my vision.

I approached the front door and rang the bell, and a girl open the door. "Are you the person renting the top floor?" The girl asked "Yes, hi it's so nice to meet you" I replied. I entered and saw the living room. It had a sofa facing the TV and a coffee table at the corner.

The dining room was next to living room and there was a stairs to go up. The landlord was sitting on the dinning table, "you are finally here, we have heard so much about you from our Mutual friend and we are so happy to get a pleasant person too." Greeted me with a smile.
