What does Freddie do with this knowledge?
Processes it and tests
Freddie didn’t say much on the walk back to the car. Too many thoughts crowded his mind at once, tangled together so tightly he could barely separate one from another. His brain worked overtime trying to pull them apart into something that made sense.
“Freddie… are you ok?” Amber finally broke the silence. “You haven’t said anything for twenty minutes, and your face is like thunder.”
“I— erm… yeah. No. I’m fine. Nothing to worry about,” Freddie stammered.
Amber’s expression softened at his words. “That’s good. Can we get an iced coffee on the way home?” she asked, a spark of happiness returning to her voice.
“Yeah, sounds good,” Freddie replied, though his mind was already drifting back to the problem at hand.
I could test it at the café. I need multiple people to confirm it. But what about me? If I really can make people believe anything I say… what happens if I slip up and ruin someone’s life by accident? You’re overthinking, Freddie. Focus.
“We’re here,” Amber said, pulling him out of his mental spiral.
