Chapter 10
by FlightoftheBeers
What do you say?
Let's take this slow
You did feel the spark. You could feel something between the two of you beyond just the sexual tension. You knew it wasn't right and she did, too. But here you both were. "We need to take this slow, Dillon," you held her loosely in your arms. The two of you met each other's gazes, both hungry for the other.
"What do you mean?" Dillon canted her head to the side, anxiety and worry building up inside of her. "Do you not want this?" Her mind was running in circles. She thought you were making up excuses to get away from ber.
"Dillon, whatever this is between us: I want it. I want to explore it and understand it even more." You offered her some gentle reassurance and it seemed to calm her down. "But we can't just rush into this. There are a lot of moving parts and I want to make sure you don't get hurt."
She squeezed you tight and shut her eyes as she pressed her face into your chest. "You would never hurt me."
You weren't sure that was true, but you weren't going to fight back on that right now. To be honest, though, you weren't sure about a lot of things. This weird limbo you were in right now felt both wrong and right. You loved Tegan, but on the flip-side, you'd never really tried to step out of that comfort zone with anyone but Siri and she was a major departure from Tegan.
Your sweetheart has always been a safe choice for you. There was little friction, if any, between the two of you and it made things easy. Maybe too easy? But the two of you 'worked.' There was no way of knowing with Dillon. It's not like you could just go out and date, either. It was a pretty difficult situation.
"You're thinking about your wife, aren't you?" Dillon asked, still clinging to you.
"It's kind of hard not to. This would affect her and I have no idea what to do," you admitted. It was best to be honest with Dillon so she knew what was going on in your head.
"So what do you think we should do?" Dillon looked up at you, puppy dog eyes pleading for a response.
That was the million-dollar question. There weren't many options, but you did have some. You knew a bit business trip was coming up. Originally, Aubrey was going to on it by herself, but you could volunteer you and Dillon.
Or you could simply sneak around. That would be pretty risky, but it was the easiest choice.
You could tell Tegan what was going on and let her know that you wanted to test the waters with Dillon, but you had absolutely no idea how that would go.
Finally, you could just break this all off and give up. That would be the second easiest, albeit most hurtful, option.
Decisions, decisions.
