"Ok," Maria said and clapped her hands. "Now that we're on the same page - it is not a big deal to modify me - let's talk about what you wanna do! I know I get on your nerves sometime."

"I don't know!" Andrew leaned back on his forearms. "I just, I mean... this shit that we're doing right now! Everything turns into a whole fucking thing with you!"

"What are you talking about?" Maria was desperately struggling to parse his statement so that she could obey.

"Sometimes I just want to take it easy," he admitted. "Not everything has to turn into wild sex or messing with your head or whatever."

She nodded. "Sorry if I've been a little intense. It's just... you know, I never got to experience this stuff before! Until a few months ago, I couldn't do anything not related directly to being a professor. Now it feels like there's a whole world to explore!"

Andrew grasped her hands in his. "I know, babe, and I love that about you. I just don't have the same energy as you. I don't want to change you or make you less curious or anything, but sometimes it's a little too much."

Maria nodded sympathetically. "I get that, and I understand that you don't want to change me. But Andrew, I'm not like Madison. I never was a real person! Everything about me is artificial and arbitrary, so there's no 'authentic' Maria that you need to remain loyal to. I mean, we even changed my name!"

"That was out of necessity," Andrew pointed out. "But I really like you, Maria. I really liked you when you were my hot professor and I really like you now-"

"And you're scared if you change me you won't like me any more. Is that it?"

Andrew nodded and she continued. "Oh, hon, everyone changes. You think a couple celebrating their 20th anniversary are the same people they were when they got married? People change each other, and people change for each other. Think of it this way - if you were dating a smoker and you wanted her to quick smoking, you could ask her. She might agree, but then she'd have to actually do it, which I hear is very difficult. If she's a golem, you can just tweak her script. In the end, either way, she quit smoking for you."

Andrew was silent, thinking about her words. Maria took the opportunity to sit next to him on the bed and gently rub his back.

"...but I don't want someone different," he finally said. "I get everything you're saying, but I like who you are."

"That's what modifier scripts are for," Maria told him. "Right now I'm fully obedient. If you can't handle me, tell me to go sit quietly in my room and I'll do it without a second thought. If obedience isn't what you're looking for, we can explore other options. That way my script won't change but you can take little breaks."

Andrew nodded. "I'll think about different modifiers we can use. That's a good compromise. Thanks, sweetie."

Maria hugged him, her chest firm against his and her breath hot on his neck. Andrew felt a dizzy spell; he still couldn't believe this gorgeous, incredible woman was actually his. She broke the embrace and smirked at his tented pants.

"You're welcome. Now, since I'm still completely obedient, what do you really want from me right now?"
