Three days later...

It was a rainy day. Your dad kissed your Mom, hugged you and shook Isaiah's hand before walking towards the policemen.

You, your Mom and Isaiah were looking from the porch and watched how the policemen escorted your dad into the patrol car. You could see how he looked at you one last time before they drove off with him. He was regretting his life decisions. You knew it was going to be hard for him.
Your Mom ran upstairs and broke down, crying. Isaiah put a hand on your shoulder and said:
— Your Dad is a good man, boy. — But he was really thinking "That was too close. I can't believe that bullshit I told him about my ill mother worked out..."
He felt so ecstatic he couldn't even suppress the bold smile that his lips showed. You stayed on the porch thinking, while Isaiah went upstairs to comfort your Mom...
