Chapter 18 by sexyslave sexyslave

What do they do next?

A bit of an awkward car ride home.

Felix sat uncomfortably in the back of the Batmobile, sitting next to Diana, who was now in civilian clothes. It was several hours after their fun, and Batman was of course driving him to where his home was... Decked out with a fully upgraded security system. "...you work fast," he finally said to Batman.

"...I have to, given just how endlessly issues pop up," Batman replied stoically.

"...fair enough," Felix agreed nervously. He couldn't get a read on Batman. "...so... I take it you really don't trust me?"

Batman didn't respond initially, before he replied bluntly, "I don't fully trust anyone, period."

"Yeah, we know, Batman. We still haven't forgotten that fiasco when you let one of our enemies get ahold of your contingency plans for us," Diana noted, a slight edge to her tone. "Contingency plans you didn't even have the decency to tell us you were making..." She wrapped her arms around one of Felix's, hugging it close.

"I don't regret making those contingency plans," Batman stated firmly. "They were a necessary precaution."

"...I'm gonna have to side with him on this one, Diana," Felix noted. Diana pouted at him, and he elaborated, "There's always a chance that someone could go rogue. Or get mind controlled. Or even alternate versions of you guys from time to time. The Justice Lords did make pretty major headlines as I recall," he noted. "That said, if he really did let those plans get into the hands of an enemy, that was a mistake. And he definitely should have at least told you all that the plans were being made to be safe. In short, I'm only against how he went about taking measures for a worst case scenario, not that he did it at all."

Diana pouted, but decided to agree to disagree with Felix on this one. Batman nodded slightly, but showed no further acknowledgement. Felix was right, there were too many ways things could go wrong to not at least prepare. Though the fiasco, he admitted, was his fault. He had since taken measures to make sure the contingencies were far more difficult to access, and had some ineffective decoys set up in case anyone else got onto his computer.

"...on that note, I will be making such a file regarding yourself," Batman said with a sigh, also acknowledging that, while it was out of the question to tell anyone what the plan against them was, for obvious reasons, they should at least know that the plan existed.

"I appreciate you at least being upfront enough to tell me that you are planning how to bring me down if you need to, though I hardly think a plan for me is required... I'm not exactly an expert combatant," Felix remarked.

"On that note, that is going to need to change, if we are going to entrust you with that lamp. I'll be handing you over to Robin for training. And to ensure you have something more to offer the League, I suggest you start learning a skill you can use," Batman stated firmly.

"Fair enough," Felix grimaced. He had a feeling he was going to get his ass kicked and kicked hard. Joy. Still, if the League was willing to give him resources to become a full fledged member, he wouldn't say no to a free college level education. Probably even more than college level.

They pulled up near his house, which had some cameras in plain view, motion sensors, floodlights, and Felix was damn sure a lot less obvious shit. "...jeez put enough security in my home?" he asked with a grimace.

"...no," Batman said bluntly. He had put as much in as the League would sanction, plus, whatever he thought he could get away with sneaking in without them sanctioning it... Which in his opinion, wasn't enough.

"...that was a rhetorical question," Felix sighed, getting out with Diana, making sure to take the lamp with him.

What do they do at his place?
