A New Opportunity

“She’ll be ok, right?” asked a concerned Sydney. Gabby was her best friend since they were children. They were like sisters, and Sydney could not live with herself if she had permanently hurt her best friend. She hoped Jean would be able to help her friend.

He’s a better Christian then a lot of people who claim they are, and would die to protect them even tho they would see him burned for being a so-called demon,” informed Jean.

“Wow. That is...quite the story…” was all Sydney could say at that little bit of information she gained about Kurt’s life. She could not wrap her head around what was just told to her. A blue furred demon looking mutant was a devout Catholic, a religion that had creatures that looked like him as evil monsters that lead men astray. “I dunno if I could do that knowing how those people would treat me,” admitted Sydney.

“Exactly. Kurt is a very strong person, and that’s before his mutant powers. He is what we all should strive to be,” mused Jean as she thought about her friend. “He will always have your back if you ask him tho, that’s for sure. He’s a friend for life,” Jean told the young girl. “Now, shall we go to your home and talk to your parents?” asked Jean.

“Um, yeah, ok. That is probably a good idea,” agreed Sydney as she followed Jean out of the bathroom. She could not believe all the events that have happened to her today. The news that there were other teens was super helpful to ease her mind. “I can’t wait to meet everyone,” Sydney said half truthful and half trying to psyche herself up. “It’ll be fun!” Sydney said as she and Jean made their way to the parking lot where they saw Jean’s car, a red convertible with two white stripes that go down the front and back of the car.
