Chapter 156 by sexyslave sexyslave

Is Izuku interested in Mei at all?

He actually is.

Izuku had to admit, he admired Mei's passion. Once she was promised the return of her... babies, after the study session had ended, she had huffed and immediately thrown herself into studying. And he could tell she was pretty damn good at what she did... despite some flaws in her work, which he noted that she kept meticulous notes of. "...I really like her," Momo giggled to Izuku in an undertone.

"...life certainly wouldn't be boring with her around," Ochaco partially agreed as Kendo was helping Mei study basic literature.

"Why do we even read these stories?" Mei whined about the subject matter. "What does it have to do with being a Hero, or a Support Item maker?"

Iida seemed almost affronted. "I beg your pardon?" Okay, scratch almost. "These so called "stories" in the cirriculum are classic pieces of literature!" He gave an air chop for empahsis. "Furthermore, reading on a regular basis helps with reading comprehension, and both Hero and Support Work involve a lot of paperwork! It's truly critical!"

"But paperwork's boring!" Mei pouted.

"But it's also critical to be able to keep documentation of every one of your creations," Izuku noted, approaching her. "...also... the fantasy and sci fi books in the curriculum? They tend to be chock full of inspiration."

"...inspiration?" Mei asked slowly, gazing intently at Izuku, showing him he had her attention.

"Well, yeah, certain magical and technological abilities are pretty useful for getting Heroes to think outside the box when it comes to ways to utilize their Quirks... and they can also inspire ideas for a Support Item maker. Mostly sci fi novels, but even fantasy books can give some ideas on what you want to make, technological versions of spells you can see in those..."

Mei proceeded to waste no time, grabbing one of the most promising looking books in the pile that had been brought, and reading intently, using a notepad to jot down some ideas. "...wow, impressive... you already speak her language..." Kendo remarked to Izuku.

"...what can I say?" Izuku chuckled, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.. "I'm pretty decent at reading people, at least, I like to think so. And honestly, she's pretty easy to figure out..."

The session finished without any further incident, much to everyone else's relief, and they soon all filed out. Kendo proceeded to invite Izuku over to her place for some more sparring, and Izuku aceepted. He ended up going home at the end of it, just as sore as the first time, but he felt closer to Kendo, and that he was learning better fighting techniques.

What will next day bring?
