Chloe

“Hey hey, it’s SuperMax. Morning Max.” She said. Then she looked at Joyce and her tone changed to being slightly annoyed. “Hey mom.”

Kyle stopped eating his meal and looked up. It was a girl. She walked up to the Jukebox and changed the music to some rock tune. She then turned towards Kyle and Max.

“Chloe.” Joyce sighed.

Kyle looked at the girl and then realized. She was the same girl he remember seeing in one Max’s photos. He remembered looking at a photo of Max and the girl dressing up as pirates in her room and asked her who it is. Max told him that the girl in the photo was Chloe, her childhood friend before she moved to Seattle.

Kyle looked at the girl. She looks just like a carbon copy of Joyce. No wonder when he met Joyce the first time she reminded him of someone as it turned out she is her daughter.

Kyle also noticed the girl had short striking blue hair unlike the brown hair he remembered seeing in Max’s photo and a dark blue beanie hat. She is seen wearing a loose yet somewhat skimpy white tank top showing a bit of her black bra and a black leather jacket slightly pulled up showing a bit of her tattoo on her right arm. Besides that she also wears a pair of skinny jeans and black leather boots. She reminds him of those punk rockstar girls similar to Arvil Lavigne.

“How’d you doing Max.” She said sitting down next to Kyle without his permission. Kyle moved a bit giving Chloe some space. Chloe placed her leg on the seat while her hand across the chair.

“Hi Chloe.” Max said. “I’m fine.”

She the turned to Kyle. “Hey there sugar.” She said in a flirty tone licking her lips a little. “So who is this boy.” She turned to Max crossing her legs resting her hands on the table.

“Chloe, this is my boyfriend. Remember?” Max introduced. “I mentioned to you previously.”

“Oh right!” Chloe said as she remembered. “Kyle right? Max’s boyfriend.” She looked at Max and she nodded.

The blue haired punk then turned to Kyle. “Names Price by the way. But you can call me Chloe.” She offed her hand.

Kyle shook her hand and said. “Nice to meet you Chloe. Max always talked about you several times.”

“Really?” Chloe said surprisingly.

Kyle continued. “Yeah, Max told me you two used to be best friends back then before she moved to Seattle. She even told about all those adventures you two used to went on as kids.” He turned back to his meal taking a sip of coffee from his mug.

“Yeah… Max also told me how you and her lost each other’s virginity for the first time few days ago and how good did you rocked her!”She whispered with a smirk and licked her lips. “Oh, not just her right?” She moved closer and nudged Kyle’s shoulder giving him a look.

Kyle was shocked, he immediately choked on his coffee upon hearing that and quickly put down his mug on the table staring to cough uncontrollably.

Max quickly stood up reaching her hand behind Kyle patting his back trying to ease her boyfriend. She then looked at her friend and hissed angrily. “Chloe!” Her face was red.

“What?” Chloe looked at the other customers noticing that they didn’t care. She looked back at the couple and chuckled. “Haha look at you! Alright alright I’m just fucking around, just chill!”

Max was still furious but she didn’t care and continued patting her boyfriend’s back. “Are you okay?” She asked.

“I’m fine.” Kyle said as his coughing began to die down. His face was red like Max thanks to Chloe’s embarrassment.

Joyce walked to her daughter and sighed. “Chloe, don’t disturb Max, they still had classes today unlike you.”

“What mom? Can’t I see my friend as it’s been sometime since I last saw her?” Chloe shrugged her shoulders protested.

“More like trying to get a free breakfast as usual.”

“Whatever mom.” She huffed crossing her arms and rolled her eyes.

Kyle glanced at both mom and daughter squabbling and arguing. Max noticed him and kicked his leg gently getting his attention.

He understood what she meant and obliged. Good thing he was almost finishing his meal when Max asked him to. He took the last piece of omelette on his plate before reaching for his mug and finished the remaining coffee.

“Joyce, thanks for the breakfast as usual.” Max spoke interrupting Joyce and Chloe’s argument. “But Kyle and I gotta go.”

Joyce attitude changed and looked at Max with a smile. “Thank you Max, I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it and you are always welcome here.”

“Thanks Joyce.” Kyle joined. “Max was right about your cooking. It is indeed delicious.” He took out his wallet from his pocket taking a few dollars out and placed in on the table but Max stopped him.

“Keep it.” Max looked at Kyle and slipped the money on the table back to him. “You’ve paid for the movie last night and let me treat you this time.”

“Aww that’s so sweet SuperMax. But did you just mention a movie date last night?” Chloe turned around after listening to what Max said. “Did you two ended up ‘do it’ if you know what I meant?” Chloe looked at the couple with a devilish grin.

“Chloe!” Max hissed again.

“Excuse me?!” Kyle said raising his voice but try not to get angry.

“Relax I’m just messing with you!” Chloe laughed. Honestly Kyle couldn’t stand this girl and as much is he was annoyed he tried to keep it to himself as she is Max’s best friend and he didn’t want to disappoint her or make her sad since usually Kyle would have actually snapped at someone.

Joyce looked at the couple and immediately opened her mouth trying to make things not to awkward. “No need to worry Max, today’s breakfast is on me. It’s good meet your boyfriend too.”

Max left her seat while Chloe got off letting Kyle left.

“Enjoy your morning.” Joyce said as she waved at the couple as they exited the diner. Chloe also waved at them.

The two later boarded the bus and returned to the academy. The two sat down looking awkwardly at each other. Then Max spoke up.

“Kyle I’m so sorry.” Max apologized looking at him with a pair of puppy eyes. “I’m really sorry about Chloe.”

Kyle lets out a sigh. How could he ever get angry at this cute cinnamon roll anyway. This time, he returned the favor holding her hand tightly just as how she did in the diner smiling and assuring her. However, he had some questions about Chloe as it’s the first time he met her.

“Max, is Chloe… um. Always like this?” He thought for a short moment before asking hoping it will not anger or disappoint Max.

Max sighed “Well… Chloe was not always like this. She is always that sweet, caring and happy person but ever since the **** of William, Chloe has changed into a different person. According to Joyce, she became rebellious, got involved with the bad crowd, smoked weed and became a troublemaker finally got herself suspended from Blackwell.” Max explained. “But she is still a loyal friend who is always by my side whenever I need.” She defended her.

Although meeting for the first time and being given a bad impression, Kyle somehow felt a bit related to Chloe and even felt bad for her after listening to Max. He remember sharing with his girls that he was put in foster care in a young age and also growing up in a rough neighborhood.

He started to think will he ended up like Chloe if he ever walked a different path? Kyle began to dream throughout the journey unknowingly realized that the bus had stopped at in front of the academy.

He soon returned to reality when Max called his name and nudged his shoulders. Max asked Kyle if everything is alright which Kyle assures his girlfriend he is alright as they exited the bus.

The day went on as usual with Kyle attending his classes but he couldn’t get his mind off about Chloe and the question he kept thinking. Soon, school ended which he got meet with Max and Kate at the hallway. He happily kissed them before holding their hands leaving the hallway while discussing their plans for tonight and rest of the week.

That night, Kyle was in his dorm room doing his homework on his computer while listening to some internet talk show when a text message on his phone suddenly popped up.

Kyle looked at the text and it was from a familiar girl based on her profile picture.

He then realized it was Chloe from this morning.

“Hey handsome it’s me Chloe from this morning remember?” The text stops then a new text appeared.

“Max gave me this number telling me it’s yours and if you are reading this. Look man, I just want to apologize for this morning. Just so you know, if you ever want to talk, hang out or something even more just text me or give me a call.” The text continued.

Then a final text appeared which reads “XOXO.” Before it ended.
