The ferocious G-vampire (S1)

Ada is on her mission to retrieve the G-Virus, but things aren’t going to turn out as she wish. In the meantime, Leon arrives at the NEST. He must confront the demons inside and out of his mind.

Chapter 10 - The Dreadful Confrontation

It took Ada more than an hour to finally crack the security system of the Level 4 testing lab with the help of the EMF Visualizer. She took a long slow breath.

It was easy for her to just grab the sample, but without the proper authorization, removing the G-Virus would cause a NEST-wide lockdown and self-destruct sequence, which was not her favor.

In the storage tank at the end of the room, a little vial of blue liquid was silently sitting there. This is the G-Virus sample, a creation of ill omen, the source of tragic in Raccoon City. But none of those were what Ada concerned with.

She held it in her hand and smiled with ease. Mission accomplished, she thought. She needed to get out of the NEST and call for extraction, and the best route was to take the cable car and get back to the sewer system.

Maybe I can find Leon and convince him to join me, now that he’s one of us. Perhaps I should teach me how to survive, to hunt, and to feed...Ada briefly drowned in the thought of spending the eternity with her protege, her companion, or perhaps even her new found lover.

She slowly approached the door to the Main Shaft and her thought were interrupted by some strange noises outside. She became alert immediately and peeked through the small window on the door.

That’s Annette...holding the hand of a little girl, walking towards the central elevator. Wait, the red eyes and fangs...she’s...turned? Ada looked at the direction of the elevator and noticed that, beside the control panel, there was another vampire, waiting for Annette. Strange...That one’s eyes were golden...Must be a mutated one.

The little girl was presented to the golden-eye vampire, and she voluntarily tilted her head to the side and revealed her clean neck, like she was completely under the mind control.

Ada decided to stay on the side-lines, as she believed that it was too dangerous for her to interfere, at least with a mutated vampire. Her priority now was to escape the NEST, so she had better not got herself into further troubles. A casualty of a little child was totally acceptable.

Besides, this wasn’t the first time she witnessed an innocent child fell prey to one of her kind.

The golden-eye vampire smiled with satisfaction, bared her fangs and dived down. Ada was indifferent to that, until the situation took a quick turn with a bullet breaking the silence.

Bang!

A few minutes earlier.

Leon and Claire stepped out of the cable car and went on searching the dock carefully. Leon was staying alert with the Lightning Hawk he “borrowed” from Dustin while Claire went ahead to the unlock the door to the NEST with the ID wristband.

When the lights came on, they saw the big Umbrella sign on the white wall and noticed that they have arrived at the North Area. There were blood all over the reception hall and they knew that this place had fallen, too.

But something more ominous was going on. The door to the Main Shaft was shattered by brute ****, and they could see what was happening near the central elevator - Katherine was holding Sherry in her arms and was about to bite.

“Sherry! No!” Claire screamed in panic and ran forward. And Leon followed right behind her.

There was only a few centimeters between Katherine’s fangs and Sherry’s neck, when Leon fired the magnum and the bullet precisely hit the back of the vampiress’ head. The shot blew half of her head off and Katherine collapsed on the floor lifelessly.

“Sherry, come on!” Claire seized the opportunity when Annette was still shocked by her mistress’ demise, grabbed the delirious Sherry and quickly ran back towards the North Area.

“You will not take Sherry away from me!” Annette growled furiously, leaped over Leon and pursued Claire.

“You’re not gonna-” Leon tried to shoot Annette, but was grabbed on the leg by something and hit on the floor heavily.

That hit was not enough to knock him out, but when Leon turned around and tried to find out what grabbed him, he was shocked and ran out of words.

Katherine stood up with a smile on her still intact left face, while a tentacle growing out from the right side of her head was **** Leon’s leg. Leon slashed the tentacle with his combat knife and it retreated due to the pain. But Katherine was still smiling wickedly.

“Leon S. Kennedy...” Katherine spoke with a distorted voice, as she had only half of her mouth, “I see that you’ve become one of us, too.”

“I’m not one of you. Never.” Leon quickly calmed himself down and aimed at the vampire again.

“Right. Something about you is...different. But that doesn’t matter. Embrace me now..And I will show you-” Katherine opened her arms, and all the eyes on her body. Two small eyes on each of her palms were slowly morphing into mouths, when two more tentacles with sharp tips grew from them.

“What the hell...” Leon gasped in horror. That thing was not the same Katherine he encountered before. It was no longer a vampire, but some twisted, mutated life form.

“-the true power!”

Katherine shot her tentacles at Leon, and he quickly jumped backwards to evade the attack. He landed on the bridge connecting the central elevator and the West Area, however, Katherine’s attacks broke the bridge easily.

Leon fired the Lightning Hawk at her, but severing the tentacle on her head didn’t even slow her down. She jumped on the west side of the bridge and kept pushing Leon back with her flexible tentacles. He used up the magnum bullets, but the monster was still standing.

In no time, Leon found himself leaning on the door to the West Area, and couldn’t open it without the general staff clearance. He grabbed his knife again and tried to go for a last stand.

“Get in!” A familiar voice came from inside the West Area as the door opened.

Leon didn’t think much and swiftly rolled into the West Area while dodging another tentacle attack.

A blast of hot air immediately hit him and made him feel a bit uncomfortable. The first chamber in the West Area was the power room, where a separate power system that maintained the power supply to the level 4 testing lab, which housed the G-Virus. Beneath the central platform, a giant boiler full of molten metal was producing massive heat.

And Ada was standing next to the door, operating the control panel to shut the door again. If it went well, at least they could keep that monster outside for now and have a brief moment to rest.

But Katherine reacted more quickly than they thought. She grabbed the floor with the tentacles on her hands and used them like a slingshot to launch herself across the chamber before the door completely closed.

Leon looked at Ada with a complex expression, but he knew that he needed to deal with Katherine first. Ada looked into his eyes and immediately agreed without saying anything. They simultaneously pulled out the silver-bullet-loaded Matilda and Broom Hc, and quickly fired at Katherine.

However, just like before, even the silver bullets couldn’t kill her now, as she regenerated more faster than she took damage.

“So, we’ve finally met. The true vampire. You’re the one who turned Leon, right?” Katherine stared at the Asian-looking female brunette in a red dress, and smiled calmly, “Your blood might be useful to me, too.”

“Huh.” Ada sneered coldly, “If you want it, then you’ll have to take it.”

“That doesn’t sound like a line you would say. But still...” Katherine raised her arm and shot her sharp tentacle at Ada.

A piercing clank echoed in the chamber as Leon blocked the tentacle with his combat knife. Ada was surprised, not only at Leon doing that for her, but also at Leon’s display of swift movement and precise control of strength as a newly turned vampire. He’s truly amazing...

“I wonder why you protected her, Leon.” Katherine wasn’t even surprised, “You know, she literally killed you to turn you into a vampire.”

“I’ll deal with her later.” Leon held the knife tightly in his hand and tried to focus on the bigger threat here.

“Fine. At least you can die together!” Katherine charged at the duo fiercely, hissing with her fangs bared.
