"Ok," Ross said once Erica was placated. "How do we figure out what the dot actually changes?"

"That's the hard part," Madison said. "We can put it into the reader, but even while the dot's visible it may take weeks to track down the differences and even longer to determine what they mean."

"Shit," Andrew said. "We really need to figure out what's going on with Erica."

"What's going on is that you're getting distracted," she said irritably. "I might as well receive my pleasure from an animatronic bear."

Madison ignored her. "There's another option. We could put the script in me and see what happens. I may be able to bypass the inability to talk about it, since my soil's not actually different."

"Couldn't we use the truth modifier I used earlier?" Ross asked. Madison shook her head.

"Whatever it is, it's hardcoded. Script writers can put different levels of protection on parts of the script, and whatever this is, it's under lock and key."

"But you think you can bypass it?" Andrew said. Erica cleared her throat pointedly and he scowled at her.

"I can't bypass it," Madison said. "But the restriction may be tied to the soil composition. If it is, then I might find some wiggle room to discuss it. I might not, but it's worth a try."

"Anything to shut you up," Erica pouted. "You're keeping my boy from-"

Her mouth suddenly stopped moving. Ross had flashed a script to her, careful to angle his hand so that Madison couldn't see. She scowled at him and he grinned. "No more talking for now, Erica."

"Thank you," Andrew said with relief, before Erica flicked his forehead.

"Why don't you just unbind her?" Madison asked, and Erica gestured to indicate that she also wanted to know the answer.

"I dunno," Andrew said. "I like having the hottest woman in my life begging me for sex, I guess."

Erica rolled her eyes at that and flicked his head again. Madison turned to Ross and held out the canister. "What do you think, babe? Should we give it a shot?"
