Both girls are wet again

Rebecca stirred, the remnants of her unsettling dream clinging to her mind like a heavy fog. Her breathing was uneven, and as she shifted in her crib, the squishy warmth of her diaper pressed against her, a tactile reminder of her current reality. The movement caused the crib’s mattress to crinkle loudly, and the sound seemed to cut through the quiet of the room.

A soft rustle came from the crib beside hers, followed by Lilly’s groggy voice. “Becky?”

Rebecca winced, realizing she’d woken her roommate. “Sorry,” she whispered, her voice still shaky from the dream. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”

“It’s okay,” Lilly murmured, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. The glow of the nightlight illuminated her sleepy face, and her stuffed bear remained clutched tightly in one hand. “What happened? You sounded upset.”

Rebecca hesitated, her cheeks warming. “I… I had a nightmare,” she admitted finally, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lilly tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. “What kind of nightmare?”

Rebecca sighed, pulling her blanket closer as if it could shield her from the memory. “It was weird,” she began, her words slow and uncertain. “I dreamed I was… different. I wasn’t wearing a diaper. I had pull-ups, like the girls earlier, and I thought… I thought I’d moved up to something better.”

Lilly nodded slowly, waiting for her to continue.

“But…” Rebecca’s voice faltered. “The room was scary. Everyone looked… mean. And then I couldn’t do anything right. I had to follow a line with a pencil, but it kept moving, and everyone was laughing at me. And then…” Her face burned as the memory of the dream washed over her. “I wet myself. In the pull-ups. And it leaked everywhere. They all just… stared at me.”

Lilly frowned, her own face mirroring Rebecca’s discomfort. “That sounds awful,” she said softly.

Rebecca nodded, her hands fidgeting with her blanket. “It was. I woke up right after, but it felt so real.”

Lilly was quiet for a moment, then offered a tentative smile. “Well… at least it was just a dream, right?”

Rebecca managed a weak nod. “Yeah… I guess.”

Lilly shifted in her crib, pulling her stuffed bear closer. “I had a dream too,” she said after a pause.

Rebecca glanced at her, surprised. “Really? What was it about?”

Lilly’s cheeks flushed, and she hesitated before answering. “It was about… the potty.”

Rebecca raised an eyebrow. “The potty?”

“Yeah,” Lilly said, her voice growing quieter. “It was… weird. I was supposed to use it, but it looked so big and scary. Like, it wasn’t a normal potty—it was huge, and the sound it made was super loud. It felt… wrong.”

Rebecca listened intently, the strange dream catching her attention.

“And then,” Lilly continued, her voice barely above a whisper, “I just… I didn’t want to use it. I felt safer in my diaper. It was like… I knew I was supposed to go back to being big, but I didn’t want to.” She glanced at Rebecca, her cheeks reddening. “It was kind of a nice dream, I guess.”

Rebecca tilted her head, thinking. “That’s… different,” she said slowly.

Lilly nodded. “Yeah. I don’t know why, but it felt good to know I didn’t have to do something that scared me.”

They fell into a brief silence, the quiet hum of the nightlight filling the room. After a moment, Lilly shifted uncomfortably, her cheeks turning pink again.

“Um… speaking of diapers,” she said hesitantly, clutching her bear tighter, “mine’s… soggy again.” She looked at Rebecca nervously. “But I swear I went to sleep dry. I don’t remember wetting it.”

Rebecca’s face grew warm at Lilly’s admission, her own awareness of her diaper’s state creeping back into focus. She shifted slightly under her blanket, the familiar squish pressing against her.

“Mine’s still soggy,” Rebecca admitted softly, her blush deepening. “But it feels… warm again. I must’ve…” She trailed off, unable to finish the sentence.
