Investigating the Chasm (Ningguang POV)

It had been a week of since Xianyun had joined Us. One by one the foolish resistance of the male vision holders had been crushed across Liyue. I had managed to consolidate control of Inazuma’s capital and the Shogun’s army, only the islands under the control of the Watatsumi army under Sangonomiya Kokomi were left to be conquered.

Meanwhile I had been informed of a potentially dangerous threat to my conquest of the land of Teyvat, thanks to information from Xianyun provided on the crystals in the Chasm. Now she and Beidou had become my personal playthings in the Jade Palace to do with as I pleased. I had closed down the Chasm for the time being but had some of my drones stand guard the entrances to the Chasm. However, during a routine patrol by the Reborn Chongyun and Xingqui they discovered evidence of the Fatui’s presence deep in the Chasm. This was more than a little unnerving as the Lumenstone, that had proven so dangerous were mined in the Chasm.

Earlier in the week Keqing, Ganyu and Xinyan while on a routine patrol bore witness to what was happening in Mondstadt. They saw the Knights of Favonious infecting individual civilians with a slugs produced from their mouths and showed the same second mouths that Ganyu and Keqing had seen produced out of Shenhe. The rapid change in the situation in Mondstadt.

“Is everyone ready?” I asked my Dark Disciples.

“Yes Empress.” The four of them said in unison.

“Then let’s go.” I said with a grin.

The five of us journeyed down to the surface and made our way to one of the teleportation waypoints down in the corrupted city below. Placing our hands on the node, with a flash of light we were instantly transported to the Chasm’s main entrance below the surface. The familiar darkness surrounded the five of us. I could feel the familiar dark energy that created who I was now present here, the same dark aura which now covers the surface of Liyue.

“From here on girls we are to search the Chasm for signs of the Fatui. As some of you might remember before Our betrayal by Yelan and the others the Fatui had been in the Chasm searching for something until I took over Liyue. We don’t know exactly what they were after still but we will find out.” I announced to my four Dark Disciples. “Xinyan and Yun Jin I want you to search the deeper levels of the Chasm together. Ganyu and Keqing will follow me and search the main mining area. We will meet up here in several hours. Understood?”

“Yes Empress.” They all bowed.

“Shall we get rocking!” Xinyan grinned to Yun Jin.

“As long as you don’t let everyone know we’re coming.” Yun Jin replied as the two of them proceeded down their own path to the lower levels of the Chasm. “If you’re a good girl I might even let you be on top for once.”

“Sounds like a plan.” The musician grinned.

With Ganyu and Keqing following behind me we proceeded deeper into the mine. We stopped and examined every possible trace of evidence of Fatui activity. What we could say for certain was after we had closed down the Chasm it appeared someone was down here.

“Empress?” Keqing asked as we walked deeper into the mine ourselves.

“Yes Keqing?” I awaited her question.

“Why not bring your Cicins down into the mines to help search?” Keqing asked curious.

“I didn’t want to alert people to our presence. They may be small but they make a tremendous noise and would give away our investigation immediately if I hade dozens of Me flying around.” I explained. “Besides if they got into trouble the pain I’d feel if they were harmed wouldn’t be pleasant and I need to keep myself active. What kind of Empress would I be if I just sat there and let my little Selves do all the work while my Main body just stands around.”

“I see.” Keqing seemed intrigued.

Almost immediately, we noticed something suspicious. We approached a large excavator which was not here before. It was from definitely foreign in origin and appeared to have been acquired from Fontaine and a small encampment of Fatui tents next to it. Ganyu went to check the surrounding area while Keqing and I looked around the camp. We noticed however the other items in the encampment were Fatui.

“The Fatui were most definitely head Empress. And they hadn’t been long gone. The fire they had bribing here was only put out recently.” Keqing said as she handing me some documents. “These documents indicate this was purchased by the Fatui just before Ganyu, Yelan and I came to investigate this place.”

“What else have you found?” I asked as Ganyu approached.

Ganyu stepped forward. “It appears that the modified Ruin Guard we also had found during our investigation is also present. There’s signs of it sitting down with one of its arms clearly having been replaced with a drill.”

“Anything else you found?” I inquired.

“I found some evidence of some crystals being mined. It looks like it could be Lumenstones. But right now it’s hard to tell.” Keqing held up a small light blue glowing shard.

“What could they possibly want with Lumenstones?” I pondered. “It would be dangerous for them to acquire those.”

“Empress, the Ruin Guard left a trail that leads deeper into the mine. Should we follow it?” Ganyu asked.

“For now let’s follow that trail. Perhaps we may discover what it was they are really doing down here.” I agreed.

We proceeded deeper into the mine following the trail the Ruin Guard made as it walked. I felt unease. While normally I was comfortable in the Chasm where the former Dark Emperor resided before he gave me his power, something felt off. As we proceeded I began to realize we were coming closer and closer to where the Dark Emperor was imprisoned I began to notice the large amount of new excavations having been done the closer we got to the chamber. When we got to a sudden turn we stopped in our tracks as we heard voices around the corner.

“It’s good to see you Signora.” An unfamiliar deep female voice spoke.

“It certainly is.” Another woman apparently the Fatui Harbinger, Signora, with a rather arrogant voice responded. “Being dead and then resurrected by my subordinates is truly an incredible feeling. It’s fitting for myself rather as a Phoenix I have come back stronger than ever.”

“You certainly haven’t changed.” The first woman spoke.

The three of us got closer and peered around the corner. There we saw nearly two dozen Fatui Cicin Mages and Mirror Maidens, as well as the modified Ruin Guard gathered around two differently dressed and rather mature women in a small encampment. One of them was wearing a rather ostentatious white dress and had long blonde hair, the other woman wore a suite and had short layered black and white hair. I also noticed a rather young woman with cat ears and a tail among the crowd.

“Indeed I don’t think I have changed much except in a few ways. But I’ll explain later.” Signora spoke. “But first Arlecchino I’m sure you’ve heard what’s been going on in Liyue?”

“Yes I’m aware.” The deeper voiced woman, apparently named Arlecchino, replied. “Liyue has been taken over by Ningguang who has crowned herself as the Dark Empress and spread a mysterious dark energy and black mud across the land. She has effectively closed the boarders of Liyue.”

“Indeed.” Signora began to speak again and paced around in front of Signora. “My former subordinates had to flee from Liyue and nearly all of our operations shit down. To make matters worse she also has taken control of Inazuma recently.”

“I hadn’t heard about what was happening in Inazuma. But what about the Shogun?” Arlecchino asked curious.

“She has joined Ningguang apparently. And right now she’s getting ready to crush the resistance there.” Signora explained. “Needless to say Ningguang is proving to be a problem for us. But I may have found a solution.”

“Do tell.” Arlecchino crossed her arms under her chest waiting to hear this ‘solution’ to dealing with Me.

“There are two different approaches we can deal with her.” Signora said as one of the Cicin Mages tossed her a bag.

She reached in and pulled out a Lumenstone! Somehow the Fatui had figured out Our Weakness! This was bad! The power of a Lumenstone could potentially cleanse both my Dark Disciples and my body of the black mud turning us nothing more than simple Vision holders and destroy my Dark Empire.

“This first solution is these Lumenstones.” Signora continued to explained. "From our research and investigation we've discovered that these stones emit a energy that weakens and cleanses those exposed and corrupted by Ningguang's power. We are in the middle of testing this in Inazuma by assisting the Watatsumi army against the Shogun."

"And, what was the second solution?" Arlecchino asked curious.

"The other method would be to use the same method that resurrected Myself." Signora said as she reached into the same bag.

I had a bad feeling about what she had in that bag. Signora pulled her hand out of the bag and revealed a slug like creature! It was the same slug like creature that Lumine and the others had reportedly seen infesting those of Shenhe and her followers. Signora being infected by the slugs was a bad news as it would mean Shenhe’s influence would be expanding much further in the Fatui than we had known.

“What is that?” Arlecchino asked although her face was stoic as before you could tell she was a bit disturbed by its presence.

“This is what revived me.” Signora smirked. “With these we can become nearly invincible. One only has to allow it to enter your body and let it join with you and Ningguang’s corruption can either be resisted or completely overcome, and just let it make some… changes to you and your body.”

“What kind of changes?” Arlecchino glared at Signora.

“Ah!” Lynnette suddenly gasped as two of the Cicin Mages next to her began to grab her and feel her up. “Stop.”

“Control your subordinates!” Arlecchino said angrily.

“You said you wanted to know what kind of changes these make so I will show and tell you.” Signora said as she began to feel her own self up in front of Arlecchino and approach her. “They change your body to be more accommodating to their kind and so they can reproduce using your sexual organs. And they adjust your libido and preferences to wanting to spread their kind to others, more specifically to other women. But more importantly they change your loyalty to Our Queen, Shenhe.”

“AHH!!! Nnnn!” Lynnette suddenly gasped and then began to gag!

One of the Cicin Mages began to produce a slug from her mouth and was now forcing it down Lynette’s mouth from hers as several of the other Cicin Mages restrained her. The look of terror on the feline girl was a familiar one.

“Stop this at once!” Arlecchino pulled out her spear and aimed it at me.

“It’s too late now. Your dear daughter over there is becoming one of us as we speak.” As Signora finished speaking the last of the slug disappeared between Lynette’s lips and she began to shake and convulse and her tail and ears to twitch violently.

Then the other Fatui present opened their mouths. Then a bulb like thing similar in texture and appearance to the slugs pushed out and then opened like a flower creating four large fleshy mandibles with three small tendrils extending out of their newly revealed second mouths. Arlecchino looked around and took a combat stance ready to defend herself and occasionally looked over at Lynette’s convulsions body.

“What the kind of monster have you become Signora?!” Arlecchino gripped her spear tightly.

“You’ll know soon enough when you join Us.” Signora said with a grin as she continued to fondle her own breasts openly.

Just then several of the Mirror Maidens and Cicin Mages shot out a small stream of liquid out their tendrils at Arlecchino! Arlecchino dodged the first splashes shot at her but the 3 of them hit her on her face!

“Ah! What is this?” Arlecchino tried to wipe off the fluids from her face.

Arlecchino suddenly became noticeably weaker. Her hands began to shake and her movements sluggish. She dropped her spear unable to hold it anymore before finally falling to her knees.

“Father I don’t know why you even tried to resist.” Suddenly Lynette spoke having regained her strength and conscious.

Lynette walked in front of Arlecchino who now seemed unable to even speak anymore. Arlecchino could only groan and her eyes half-lidded as she sat there unable to move. Meanwhile Signora approached Lynette and Arlecchino was the slug. Lynette grabbed Arlecchino by her cheeks and turned her face up. Without any hesitation Signora pushed the slug into the incapacitated Fatui Harbinger and watched as it pushed its way down her throat!

Arlecchino began to jerk about as the slug began taking control. Meanwhile the other Fatui present began to screech aloud seemingly in celebration! The noise was so high pitch and loud I had to cover my ears. The infected Fatui then stopped and watched as Arlecchino’s eyes closed and her body stopped moving, sitting still on her knees. Then her eyes blinked and she looked around at the infected Fatui around her before grinning.

“Thank you Signora.” Arlecchino spoke with a wicked smile on her face and then taking Lynette’s hand as she helped her up.

“Glad you can join finally join us.” Signora stepped forwards.

“I’ll begin our Operations in Fontaine for Our Queen immediately.” Arlecchino said as she placed her hands on Signora’s shoulders before kissing her.

“Good. I’ll continue bringing more of our Comrades into Our Queens service.” Signora said as she began to grope Arlecchino through her clothes.

“What about our pesky intruders?” Arlecchino asked before suddenly looking directly at us.

“I’ll let the girls handle it.” Signora said with a snap of her fingers.

Suddenly all the Cicin Mages released a terrifying screech before suddenly all turning to face Ganyu, Keqing and I with rage fueled eyes! They all burst into a sprint in our direction screeching loudly with their second mouths and their mandibles extended! There entire presence and energy had changed. It was as if all semblance of intelligence and humanity suddenly left their being and they became nothing more than beasts out for blood!

“Empress we must flee!” Ganyu shouted and grabbed my hand, pulling me away from our cover.

“There’s no time to waste we need to make it to the Teleportation Waypoint immediately!” Keqing said clearly in a panic.

The three of us rushed towards the nearest teleportation waypoint back in the direction we came from. I began to take the lead and using my combined brainpower and prior knowledge of the whole mines layout from my drones memories I lead us towards the closest waypoint. Rushing through the main mining area we passed by a crane along the path. There was several barrels of explosives next to one of its supports. I looked back and saw the dozens of infected Fatui Cicin Mages following behind us 100 meters away. I turned around for a brief moment and using my Geo Catalyst I launched several gems using my Sparkling scatter which impacted the barrels causing them to explode!

With a great deafening boom that echoed and vibrated the entire mine I covered my ears once more as the explosion sent shockwaves through my body. The explosion stopped everyone in their tracks as it kicked up dust everywhere! The Cicin Mages stopped in their tracks and looked up and saw the Crane begin to lean. First slowly then faster and faster as the crane began to collapse across the floor of the mine! With a thunderous boom the crane hit the ground kicking up even more dust and debris, but more importantly it blocked off the Cicin Mages from directly pursuing us for the moment.

Safe for a moment we reached the teleportation waypoint and placed our hands on it in a hurry. Having quickly analyzed the likely path of Xinyan and Yun Jin using my other brains I teleported us deeper into the mine along their projected path. With a flash of light I suddenly impacted something and fell onto my butt! Judging by the substantially shorter ceiling we teleported to one of the tunnels as I intended.

“Ow! That hurt!” Xinyan’s voice came from behind me.

“Empress are you okay?” Yun Jin suddenly rushed over to me.

We had apparently teleported right on top of the position where they were exactly. Apparently I specifically had teleported on top of Xinyan as she was leaning on the teleport waypoint, knocking both of to the ground as a result.

“Looks like you were in a hurry Empress.” Xinyan said getting off the ground.

“Yes we’re all leaving immediately.” I said taking Yun Jin’s hand as she helped me to my feet.

“We found the Fatui. They were all infected by Shenhe’s parasites. And there were a lot of them.” Keqing said trying to catch her breath.

“Everyone quickly. We’re leaving now!” I said placing my hand back on the teleport waypoint.

Everyone gathered around the Teleportation Waypoint and placed their hand on it. Having chosen the destination, in another flash of light we where suddenly on the surface in the center or Liyue harbor. I breathed a sigh of relief for a moment.

“We must warn everyone about those parasites, my Empress.” Ganyu said with her voice full of urgency.

“I am already on it.” I said placing a hand on my head to communicate to everyone via my Hive Mind. “No! Damn it!”

I was suddenly flooded with information as I was now hit with wave upon wave of information! The **** on the island of Tatarasuna was going badly. Lumine and the shogun’s forces where in full retreat having been ambushed by infected Ronin and the infected Watatsumi Army armed with Lumenstones.

This information was all troubling. We needed to regroup and rethink our strategy in Inazuma to counter the infected forces of Shenhe. Perhaps moving up the date for our invasion of Sumeru would be necessary to expand our territory in a new direction. The libraries and scholars there added to my hive mind may help find a counter to Shenhe’s infected army…
