Chapter 86 by gorel29 gorel29

What's next?

Demanding to speak to the Supervisor!

“Ugh… Did anyone get the number on that truck that hit me?” Slurred Lady Anti-Venom, slowly getting to her feet and looking around the ruins of a room she didn’t recognise. Underneath the smooth skin-like material around her, she could hear her bones crick and heal, being put back together after the severe injuries that took her out of the fight. Looking out of the hole in the wall and climbing her way out, Susan gasped as she stumbled upon the wreckage of the kitchen and living room.

The place was demolished! With the bodies of SHIELD agents strewn everywhere under debris. The fire suppression system had already put out anything that would have set the place ablaze leaving only rubble and injured people all around her.

“Susan? SUSAN?” Lady Anti-Venom called out, looking for any survivors. Easily lifting the remains of the couch and coffee table off one agent face down, she checked on him and sighed with relief that he was still breathing, but badly injured. “Daredevil? Moon Dame? ANYONE?”

“Here…” She heard a weak voice call out, seeing a blue clad glove reach out from under some debris and broken furniture.

Pulling the rubble off the lone hand waving out to her, Lady Anti-Venom found and helped up Daredevil, allowing tendrils from her symbiote to squirm out from her arms to mend and heal the woman’s body as she helped her out of the prone spot and back to her uneasy feet.

“Are you okay?”

“Can’t… Can’t see… Or hear… Or…”

Spotting the inhibitor collar around her neck, Susan turned her finger into a razor-sharp talon to snip it off her neck. The second she did, Daredevil breathed in sharply through her nose and her blank eyes went wide, alertness flooding her heightened senses.

“Where’s Moon Dame?” Sniffing the air, Daredevil turned her head to look down, and immediately began scrambling over rubble to clear away. Lady Anti-Venom doing the same until they both found the woman’s dead body on the ground.

Crouching down to check her pulse, Lady Anti-Venom stopped when Daredevil rested a hand over hers and shook her head. “Dammit…” Seeing the woman raise her head, she sniffed the air and gripped Lady Anti-Venom’s arm more tightly.

“THE KIDS!!!” Daredevil screamed. Immediately getting to her feet and running to the safe room with her other variant behind her, following after her. What they found when they got there was the door to the saferoom was ajar, and the space empty.

“She has the kids…” Daredevil spoke under her breath, taking a step back while Lady Anti-Venom looked inside, her living costume squirming, barely holding back her anxiety and rage when she turned to look back at the woman. She never saw it, but her face had become a jack-o-lantern snarl of blackened teeth and thin black slits for eyes.

“Where…?”

Standing still and tilting her head as if trying to pick up on something, Daredevil’s glassy eyes narrowed, and she placed her mask over her face. “I can hear her… The bitch cackling out in the distance.”

“Show Us…”

Making their way towards the door, the pair made to leave, until Lady Anti-Venom paused at the dead body of Moon Dame. The woman didn’t deserve this, if anything she fought harder out of all of them to keep them all safe. Bending down to the knee, she found the inhibiter collar around the dead woman’s neck. Her symbiote peeling away from her face to show her saddened face, Susan snipped the collar off her neck to give her some sense of dignity and closed her eyes. Getting back to her feet to catch up with Daredevil outside to find the Blue Goblin…

And Franklin and Valaria before it was too late.

“KEEP THOSE DOORS SEALED!” Yelled out the SHIELD director, watching as the crew still on the bridge were spot welding the doors shut while a terrible **** slammed into it from the other side, trying to break its way inside. The strength of the impact was enough for the ship to tremble again. Nearly losing his footing, Fury clutched to the nearest banister to catch himself. “IF THEY GET IN, THAT’S THE END OF US!”

“Yes sir!” the trio at the door barked in unison, recoiling from another strike that sent them into a frenzy resealing cracks in the metal and the Helicarrier trembling like a boat in rough waters.

“How the hell are they this strong?!” One of the Agents cried out, having fallen to the ground trying to keep the door closed from another impact.

“I thought they were contained by the collars…”

An explosion rocked the bridge, blowing everyone back and blinding the SHIELD agents and guards, sending them all on their backs, covering their eyes from the intensity of it all. But it was not a blast. Electricity arced across every computer station, shocking everyone in proximity and overloading the ceiling lights as bolts of lightning licked and arced across the bridge’s interior and bounced off one person after another until there were bodies dropping and twitching and a lightning ball forming over the ceiling like a disco ball. Fury could only lie on the floor staring up as half of his staff collapsed from electrocution, the electrical energies funneling and reforming itself at the heart of the room, taking form and solidifying into the shape of a woman levitating off the ground. Electro opened her blue glowing eyes and snapped her attention to the first person that moved against her.

Mary Hill was sent across the bridge with a lightning bolt for her trouble when she tried to unholster her pistol, she never got a chance to undo the safety when her whole world went dark, and her nervous system lit up like a Christmas tree. **** and twitching on the ground where two agents tended to her shock-ridden body. Electro’s attention turning slowly towards the SHIELD director as he got to his feet, facing the electrical villainess in front of him.

The scowl she gave him was palpable. But she didn’t act. Why?

“Well?” Fury called the woman out, his arms outstretched so she would focus on him and not the rest of his staff. “What are you waiting for?”

Gritting her teeth and clenching her fists, Electro’s body rippled with electrical current. She had him dead to rights, but didn’t act except to zap anyone who even remotely looked like they’d pull a weapon. She looked to be… Concentrating on something, staring at the door where the three SHIELD crew were trying to seal themselves in for their safety. With a blink of her eyes, the woman said a single word.

“Boom.”

Alarms blared, with emergency lights going off, right around the time the emergency bolts to the entire door frame blew out in unison and the three to scramble out of the way of the thick metal plates that used to be the mechanical doors fall overtop of them.

The door to the bridge finally collapsed, flooding the room in a thick purple fog, obscuring everything in its darkness with the only source of light being the electrical woman floating in the middle of the room. There was a silence that left everyone uneasy. Then a rush came, a flock or swarm of gargoyles screeched and fluttered through the room harassing and attacking all they could swipe at, leaving everyone in a panic to hide under tables or huddle at the corners of the bridge. A serpentine, mechanical limb fired out through the fog, its bladed fingers snipping as it reached out and grabbed Nick Fury by the throat, and like an anaconda coil around him to keep him bound.

“The reason she’s not frying you like a bug on a zapper Director is because I promised her something more tantalizing… So long as you don’t die.”

Slinking her way inside with the rest of her mechanical limbs and her entourage behind her, Doctor Octopus skittered her way onto the bridge, her demeanor smug with her hands folded behind her back as she eyed the man behind green tinted goggles.

“So you aren’t going to kill me?” wheezed Nick Fury, losing his breath when the tentacle around him squeezed tighter.

“I need you to get into the vault your flying bathtub has containing our exit out of this universe.”

“You have a floating skeleton key with a temper, what do you need me for?” Nick Fury gestured to the flying electrical woman glaring back at him. “You can’t have her get inside like you did here?”

“Not while the vault needs your biometrics to get inside unlike here, this place is built like an elementary school; all you need to do is pull the fire alarm and every door slams wide open… Except the private safe in the principle’s office. So… No. Electro can do a lot of things with electronics, but she can’t copy finger prints and retina scans… Isn’t that right Suzie?”

“Fuck you!”

“And if I refuse?” The director asked cautiously, eyeing the women and his staff keeping low to avoid attention.

“Ooooooooooooh…” Crossing her arms and tapping her gloved finger over her lip, Doctor Octopus looked to her crew with a grin. “You hear that ladies? The director is thinking of refusing to help us get home… I think he wants us to stay.”

A chuckle rung out amongst the variants of Susan Storm, who traded knowing looks and back at Electro who hovered above the computer stations and to Mysterio still conjuring creatures that chittered and smiled menacingly over the bridge staff like gremlins ready to pounce.

“I’d say I should take out my frustrations on these assholes, maybe let him hear them scream for an hour will change his mind!” Electro hissed, pointing a finger towards a group of SHIELD agents and crew huddled together as hostages.

“ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT! I’ll take you to the vault. You don’t need to kill any of them.”

Her smile growing, Doctor Octopus spun her finger around over her shoulder, gesturing for her crew to follow her out of the main bridge.

“I knew you were reasonable. Come then ladies, its time we head home.”

The moment they left the bridge, she gave Mysterio a single nod. The gesture was all Mysterio needed to know as she stopped at the door and snapping her fingers at her conjured minions. The screams from the bridge made Fury thrash impotently against the mechanical tentacle wrapped around him as they made their way to the storage bay of the Helicarrier.

“YOU SAID YOU WOULDN’T KILL THEM!!!”

“Oh get over yourself Director Fury.” Laughed Doctor Octopus. “It’s not like her monsters are real.”

“Real SCARY though.” Mysterio laughed, followed by the rest of the Sinister Susans as they made their way over to the vault.
