Min Min and Leaf vs. Ken and Ryu (Defeat)

R.O.B. units buzzed around the area, converting the volleyball court into a tournament legal arena. All this activity drew a small crowd, with the likes of Hero, Bayonetta, and Falco all joining the audience. While Leaf looked a little wary of the onlookers, Min Min did not break a sweat. She was used to performing in the arena. If anything, witnesses just made her victories sweeter!

The two pairs each lined up on opposite sides of the arena, downing their first stock pills. A R.O.B. unit floated to the center and counted them down.

"kzzt! 3... 2... 1... GO! kzzt!"

As soon as the two sides heard go, they leaped out of their corners and into the fray. Razor Leafs and Haidokens and Megawatts flew in every direction. The sound of blows landing both in the sand and into bodies grew and grew. The combatants spent just as much time staying out of their allies way as they did fighting their enemies. Double battles were much more chaotic than their single counterparts, after all. However, amidst the back and forth, one side was clearly gaining the upper hand.

Min Min realized her mistake pretty early into the match. Her and Leaf were good friends, sure. However, they had never fought as a team before. Compare this to Ken and Ryu, who had decades of experience fighting together. While individually she might be stronger than them, she did not stand a chance against their synergy.

The girls both lost a stock before the fighting duo even lost one! While Min Min was able to quickly grab a knockout on Ryu, this was also when the teens began to trip over each other. A few Ramram strikes hitting Squirtle, throwing off his combo. Charizard's flamethrower accidentally singeing Min Min, setting her up to get pummeled by Ken. The girls were just off their game, and this weakness was exploited.

It did not take long before both teens were on their last stock, while Ken and Ryu had only lost one each. Despite their best effort to launch a comeback, they were just too inexperienced. Leaf was the first to get knocked out, after a powerful kick from Ryu K.O.'d Ivysaur. This left Min Min alone against two opponents. After getting battered around for a little bit she, too, was predictably defeated.

The girls had lost.

"Too easy, man!" Ken laughed, high fiveing his partner.

"You said it!" Ryu agreed, looking down at the defeated girls with an animalistic hunger.

Min Min was suddenly very self conscious about the crowd...
