Chapter 32

What's next?
Lose the sob story, bud
(POV - KENZIE)
(Imagine all of the thought parts are in Russian!)
I felt like a Bond villain. Not morally, but visually.
I was sitting up on our bed. I was typing on my laptop to the side as I softly scratched the red tuft of hair laying on my lap, like Kate was my cat or something. I was using the algorithm she’d made for me to try and figure out our next move. I preferred the big computer, but the laptop would do as I performed some aftercare on my love. Her soft breaths as she slept were adorable. I had great pride that I could give her an orgasm strong enough to have her pass out.
I had ideas. For one, I’d love to go after Vocx and free Michael of his burdens. Ava had explained what she knew as best she could, though it seemed they had a way of ensuring he kept quiet. I’m not sure what, which made this idea lose its shine quickly. I hated to leave Michael in chains, but there wasn’t a way around it at the moment.
There was always Russia… no. Not yet. Not only was that idea selfish, but it was foolish. We weren’t anywhere near dealing with those fuckers. I quickly stopped thinking about it before I started losing my composure.
There was the guy Ava had brought up. Led a small **** ring in the outskirts of town. Apparently he sold a lot of lower quality products that had ended up getting a lot of people in the hospital. Most had died.
From my research, it wouldn’t be too hard to get this guy. He’d only evaded police because no one could properly identify him. He wore a mask and went by a code name: Cobra. How droll.
I saw this as a good start for Michael. Low level bad guy, minimal danger. I think I’d do some field research first to make sure he isn’t a major threat just to be sure, but I had high hopes for this one.
Cobra. I think we could get this guy soon. I’ve been itching for action.

(POV - MICHAEL)
I still have a dumb grin plastered to my face as I got to the apartment. It was about the time I’d have gotten home if I had worked, but in reality I’d spent most of the day just walking in a park. I’d ran some errands first, but it was nice to simply get out and enjoy myself (especially after good news). You could argue I was getting far too excited over this, but I couldn’t help myself! Cait….
I entered the apartment and was met with Kenzie preparing some dish in the kitchen.
“Hey there, Michael. Have you ever had pirozhkis before?” She asked as she kneaded some sort of dough.
“I’ve never even heard of… ‘pair-of-skis’.” I tried to pronounce it like she had but failed miserably.
She laughed softly. “You’ll enjoy them. They’re very good. I make them for celebrations, which I consider your joining to be.” Kenzie looked up at me and turned her head quizzically. “What’s got you so happy?”
“Me?”
“Yes, you! You look like you’re on… what is it… the cloud number?”
“‘Cloud Nine’.” I filled in her blank (heh). “I… may have a date.”
“A date?!” Kenzie clapped. “Wow, I didn’t think you’d have it in you!”
Had I really shown to be that inept with women in less than a week?
She continued, “Do we know the lucky lady? Maybe that blonde that Sara works with?”
“No, not he-“
“Hana?! Really!? I know you work together, but to bang Ava’s friend will surely cause some drama!”
“No, no! You guys don’t know her.”
She giggled. “Ah, too bad. Well, if all goes well on your date, have her over for dinner, yes?”
I nodded.
‘If all goes well’… it was just like high school. I hadn’t considered the possibility of anything going wrong yet. I was suddenly much more nervous about the entire ordeal.
Kenzie didn’t notice me clamming up as she directed her attention back to cooking. I took the opportunity to escape to my room. I desperately needed to (over)think about this date.
I’d forgotten, however, that I am roommates with a ghost.
“Save any lives yet?” Vanessa welcomed me into the room.
My eye twitched. I wasn’t mad at her or anything, but I really wanted to mentally prepare for a date.
I shook my head. “Not quite. But I did have something nice happen today.”
Vanessa raised an eyebrow. “Really? I mean, you deserve it, don’t get me wrong! I’m happy for you. What is it?”
“I got a date with this girl, Caitlin. She’s really sweet.” I smiled.
I was not met with a smile back.
“Oh, a date?…” She responded. Something was off. She… wasn’t happy for me?
I didn’t know what to do, so I pressed on. “Yeah, I met her at the movie theater. We talked for a while and she gave me her number.”
“That sounds… great, Michael.” She **** a smile. “Sorry, but I have to go… now. Spirit world stuff.”
Before I could respond, she was gone.
Did I do something wrong?
Obviously, dickhead.
I am NOT a Hero!
Follow Michael Chance as he is into the world of superheroes. Also, he will have sex.
Michael Chase is a loser. Read this to follow him as he becomes slightly less lame!
