What's next?
Not just a dream
The next morning
PG met with Lilith to discuss her findings -- and her dream -- from the previous day's session.
"So, what do you think?" PG asked Lilith after explaining her experiences. "Was my dream just a dream, or do you think there's something more sinister at play here?"
Lilith paused in thought for a moment before responding. "...I think the chances of that being 'just a dream' are pretty slim. Something's in Rogue's mind, it knows we're there, and it knows we're aware of it."
"Any idea why it reached out to me?" PG wondered out loud. "Before my dream, the idea of an outside influence on Rogue's mind was only a theory I had. Why confirm it to me instead of continuing to work in the shadows?"
"If I had to guess, it probably figured out that you'd discover it eventually," Lilith speculated. "We've made more progress in a couple weeks than Xavier & his telepaths have made in years. Whoever's messing with Rogue's head probably realized that and decided to make the first move by trying to intimidate you."
Paige scoffed. "Big mistake. This thing obviously has no idea who I am," she said defiantly. "And now I'm sure that Rogue's problem has an outside source. Now all we have to do is find out what it is."
Lilith nodded in agreement. "I doubt that'll be a problem, either. The X-Men should be able to help us narrow down a suspect list."
"Agreed," PG replied. "We should meet with them ASAP."
