“Fine,” Noah sighed, grabbing an empty backpack and walking into the kitchen. The room was sparsely furnished, the cabinets bare and the countertops dusty. He opened the refrigerator, but it was empty, the power having long since gone out. Instead, he grabbed a few cans of beans and vegetables from the cabinets, along with a box of matches and a small first-aid kit.
Greg watched him work, a faint smirk on his face. “That’s the spirit.”
