The Bridge

A Hard riddle

The journey continues as the sun begins to dip lower in the sky. The forest starts to thin out, and soon the terrain opens up into a wide plain. Before you stands a mighty bridge spanning a deep, roaring river. Its wooden planks creak lightly in the wind, and the stone supports on either side are covered with moss and ivy. It seems to be an old, but sturdy crossing.

“We’re almost there,” says Elvin, eyeing the bridge. “If we’re lucky, we’ll make it across faster than we thought.”

But as you draw closer, you feel that something is off. A deep growl echoes through the air, and the ground beneath your feet trembles slightly. The bridge seems abandoned, yet there’s a presence here, a palpable weight in the air.

“Be careful,” warns Kira, her hand instinctively moving to her bow. “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

Just then, a huge shape appears. A towering troll, covered in moss and dirt, is sitting on a rock in the middle of the bridge. His red eyes glint with malice as he slowly rises to his feet. The air around him seems to grow heavier with each movement.

“Stop!” the troll roars, his voice deep and menacing. “No one crosses this bridge without answering my riddle. Answer it right, and you may pass. Fail… and you’ll become my meal.”

You freeze. Elvin, ever alert, growls low in his throat. “A riddle? What kind of troll is this…”

The troll grins, showing sharp, yellow teeth. “

The troll leans forward.“Listen well, mortals! Answer this riddle, or you shall become my supper!”

He raises a hand and speaks:

“I am not alive, yet not dead,

Through me, you witness the dawn ahead.

I follow dreams and accompany the night,

But vanish in the morning light.

What am I?”

Answer choices:

  1. The moon
  2. The shadow
  3. Time
  4. The wind

The troll grins wider, eagerly awaiting their answer.
