Chapter 12 by JohnLocke4 JohnLocke4

The Following Day...

Flipping The Script (HD)

Early the next morning Kenny got up, had a quick breakfast with Mindy, and then was surprised to hear that she was going out to the mall with Anna for the day. It wasn't unheard of for Mindy to go out to the mall but for her to say it was going to be an all-day event, that was certainly a change of pace. Still, Kenny welcomed the idea and decided that he could use it for himself today, anyhow. So that's exactly what the teen did. Crashing on the couch, using his computer, and taking a nap around noon, he enjoyed the spoils of having his own place and nothing but time for himself on one day. The hours flew by like minutes, however, and before he knew it the sun was setting and the door was opening with Mindy and Anna making their way inside. Kenny quickly sat up from the couch and looked over to the clock, "Oh crap, is it seriously already this late?! Damn, I did absolutely nothing today."

"Happens to the best of us." Mindy giggled as she set down her bags, quickly dug through one, and then pulled out a folded shirt and comic, "Don't say I never gave you anything." She joked as she tossed the items over to her friend.

Kenny caught them and let out a laugh, the comic was the newest in his favorite series and the shirt had a graphic of their shared, favorite campy horror movie, "You seriously are the best." Mindy returned with a gleaming smile and Kenny looked at Anna, "Hey Anna, nice seeing you so soon again."

"You too," Anna replied in a simple, relatively curt way as she followed along with Mindy, heading back to the girl's bedroom with their bags.

Kenny felt his stomach slightly sink from the response now wondering just how upset Anna might actually be at him for his last night's visit as well as blowing her off for Gwen last night. Making his way back into the bedroom, Kenny put away his new shirt and rested the comic on his desk. He sat down and turned on his laptop, feeling that it might be best to give the girls some space until Anna left for the night. However, after only a few short minutes, Kenny heard a light knock on his door and it creaked open.

Anna peeked her head into Kenny's room and lightly cleared her throat, "Ken, could I come in?"

"Anna?" Kenny replied in genuine surprise as he quickly spun towards the door in his chair, "Yeah, of course, come in."

"Thank you." Anna stepped inside and nervously cupped her hands together, "Listen, I think there is something that we should talk about..." Kenny felt his blood run cold. Talk about what? Brian? Gwen? The fact that they both think we've had sex?! Oh God, I am so screwed! Kenny internally cried out.

Anna cleared her throat and took a few nervous steps into the bedroom. "Is it alright if I sit?" Kenny tilted his head and gave a nod, "Thank you." Anna sat on the edge of Kenny's bed while the teen spun around in his chair and scooted over, "Okay, so I was thinking about the other night, how you came back to apologize for leaving with Gwen." Kenny gulped, "Just...I...I'd like you to be honest with me. Did you ever have a plan to come back last night after you left with her?"

Kenny's brow ever so slightly jumped, that was a question he'd thought she might ask, but not how she'd ask it. She wasn't angry, or upset, Anna seemed nervously curious. "Oh, uh, well I had hoped I'd be back before things got too late but...the...errand ended up --"

"Kenny," Anna interrupted, leaning forward ever so slightly, "I asked you to be honest, please. You didn't run off with Gwen to suddenly go do heavy lifting for her. I know Gwen, I've been to enough of her parties with Nicole to know what she likes to do with guys that interest her." Kenny sunk in his seat and Anna diverted her gaze, "Is that what you two left to go do?"

Fuck...I can't lie that's not an option, but if I tell her the whole story she'll never talk to me again, I know it. Kenny let out a profoundly long exhale and ran his hand through his hair, "Okay. Honestly...Gwen and I...had a moment I guess at the club right before we were leaving. She didn't want to go bowling with us, I was trying to convince her to stay, and...well one thing led to another and she told me to get in her car to go see a movie."

Anna's eyes were wide, almost stunned, "And did you --" Anna's voice cracked and she quickly cleared it, "Did you sleep with her?"

"Uhhh," Kenny droned. taken aback by Anna's blunt questioning,

"It's a simple question Kenny, did you and Gwen sleep together," Anna asked again, this time her tone even a bit sharper.

Kenny felt himself growing defensive, "Why do you need to know? I didn't ask you about what you and Brian did after we left." He fired back,

Anna crossed her arms, her brow furrowing, "Why do you want to know about that?"

Kenny felt his cheeks go slightly flush, but he **** himself to double down, "I don't. That's why I didn't ask."

"Yeah you did, that was the first thing you asked me when you showed up at my door last night." Anna reminded the teen,

"Because I wanted to make sure you still had a good time and weren't mad at me!" Kenny exclaimed,

Anna gave her eyes a roll, "I would have told you if I was mad at you, do I look mad at you?"

"I don't know, you sound mad at me for leaving with Gwen and not telling you what we did," Anna impatiently gave her foot a few taps,

"Well, you're getting so defensive over it. I don't care either way, you're free to do as you like. If you don't want to tell me, then don't tell me," Anna turned her head and Kenny lowered his, the duo both locked in their stubborn tight-lipped argument.

There was a long two-minute silence as Kenny thought things over. I tell her I slept with Gwen and she could get so mad that she doesn't want to talk to me again, but I say nothing and she'll still be pissed, I could be screwed either way here. Fuck...Okay, maybe I just tell her, and then maybe I can ask about Brian and...and I don't know what, but maybe that will somehow fix things! I mean, I don't know what I need to fix between us, but fixing whatever it is sounds like a good plan! Kenny wet his lips and looked up at Anna, "Look, I --" Anna immediately looked over to Kenny with nervous eager eyes only for them to hear a small knock on the door.

"Anna? Kenny?" Mindy poked her head inside, "What are you guys doing? Am I...interrupting?"

Anna and Kenny both quickly jumped to their feet, "Oh, not at all, Mindy!" Anna nervously laughed as her cheeks started to glow red,

Kenny followed suit with a wide, **** smile, "We were just talking about last night, it was fun," He added on with a laugh,

"Oh, okay, um...I was going to make some dinner, did you want to stay and eat with us, Anna?"

Kenny looked to the blonde who immediately shook her head, "Ah, no, that's alright, I need to head home with my things and put them away. Thanks for the offer!"

Mindy and Kenny followed Anna as she headed back through the apartment and grabbed her few bags, "Do you want Kenny to give you a ride home, at least? Those bags are pretty heavy. No way he'd mind, right, Ken?"

"N-Not at all. if she --" Kenny attempted to offer only for Anna to quickly cut him off,

"Thank you, but it's such a lovely night, I'd love to walk. I'll see you guys later, thanks for the fun day Mindy, talk soon!" Anna hurriedly rushed out the door and slammed it shut behind her.

As Mindy heard the blonde running down the steps outside she turned to her friend who put on a weak smile, "You want to explain that?" Kenny let out a weak laugh and shrugged his arms, "Are you two in an argument? What exactly happened last night before you disappeared with Gwen?"

"Nothing, Mindy, it's fine. Me and Anna are totally cool." He assured while spinning around, "Why don't I make dinner? What are you feeling?"

"Did you two have a fight? Was Gwen being mean or did you two just disappear or something?" Mindy continued to press as Kenny opened the fridge,

"I promise it was nothing, we all had a good night, all of us." Kenny firmly retorted, "Everything is peachy."

"So you two are fighting," Mindy murmured under her breath with a toss of her eyes, "Well I hope you two can bury whatever it is, she's our only friend out here."

"We'll be fine, now dinner, come on," Kenny asked in a pleading tone for the conversation to be dropped,

"Fine," Mindy sighed, "Let's have burgers," Kenny smiled and quickly reached into the fridge. Though he couldn't help but think about Anna and their conversation. Hopefully, Mindy was right, whatever just happened back there, it could be buried and they could move forward. He didn't want Anna to be pissed off at him, but she was jumping him back there, and after what he heard on that phone call with Brian, why did he have to explain himself? Ugh, I hate this. I'm being an idiot. Next time she's over I should apologize...or something. He thought back to himself, giving a small nod in affirmation.

Does Kenny Patch Things Up?
