A group of friends trying a new game.

Theresa eyed the unmarked cardboard box warily. "Where did you get this?"

"A friend of my cousin's," Drew replied. "My cousin said it's a lot of fun. Apparently people tend to get really into it."

The small club needed a breather after a D&D campaign that ended abruptly when the GM had to move away for work. They agreed to stick to casual, short games for a while. It was Drew's turn to choose a game and he brought this strange knockoff.

"What do you mean, 'get really into it'?" Frankie asked. Frankie was a short, slender woman with a fiercely competitive streak.

"I don't know," Drew admitted. "It's called Nobody's Fault. I think it's like a cross between Apples to Apples and truth or dare." He opened the box to reveal a large stack of cards and a small scrap of paper. The cards were completely black on one side and had small phrases printed on the other. Reading from the paper, Drew continued.

"Each player gets seven cards to start. Each card has an action on it. During a round, one player is selected to be Nobody. All players except Nobody put forth a card that they would like to see Nobody perform. The cards are shuffled and Nobody picks one card and performs the action. The player whose card is chosen gets a point, and if the players agree that Nobody has performed satisfactorily, Nobody gets a point. At the end of the round cards are dealt again so that all players have seven and the person to Nobody's left becomes Nobody."

Claire, a statuesque blonde with an air of sophistication, spoke up. "So we have to do whatever these cards say?" she asked. "What if we don't want to?"

"Well, the gimmick of the game is that everyone has to act like it's not your fault. My cousin said that when he played it people were insulting, slapping, and even kissing each other."

"If anybody kisses me I'm definitely gonna break that rule," Theresa said. "Sounds like your cousin's friends just wanted an excuse to to do all that stuff."

Martin, who had been silently flipping through the cards, suddenly spoke up.

"Alright, let's get started. I'll be Nobody." He shuffled the deck, dealt the cards, and sat back expectantly.
