The Promotion

Things had only gone from bad to worse in the past couple of weeks. First, the company Chloe and her husband, Fred, worked for had been bought out. There had been rumors of mass layoffs circling around and the two of them knew they couldn't afford to get laid off—neither of them.

The second, equally worse part, was that their new manager was someone neither of them wanted to see again: Cassian. He was one of Fred's frat bros, but he was a total ass. No one particularly liked being around him; he would talk so much about the sex he was getting and brag to anyone with ears. After college, they'd thought they'd escaped him, but he he was again.

Each employee had been required to do an individual meeting and evaluation with Cassian and it was finally Chloe's turn. She dreaded it. She could only imagine what he'd say. But she wasn't going to take it! She'd let him know just how she felt!
