Task 1

The week had gone by slowly. Drew wasn’t sure if it was the slog of getting back into the routine for classes again, or if it was the lack of opportunities she was getting at practice, but Monday and Tuesday had gone by painfully slow. It was only after she’d awoken Wednesday morning and had her heart flutter at the sight of the notification from Campus Clash that she realized it was the anticipation of the announcement of the first task that she’d been waiting for.

Ever since the marketing campaign had kicked off speculation about what the competition would be and look like had been burning thru campus like wildfire. When the bracket tab had gone live on everyone else’s app yesterday, Drew had been getting alot of questions about if she was the Drew listed. She wasn’t sure how to answer so she mostly attempted to laugh it off.

But now it was time to see what the next few weeks of her life would look like if she was going to be successful in winning the prize money. Her hands trembled as she opened the app and clicked on the “Tasks” tab. In bold letters there was only one option to select. “Task 1”.

“Contestants! It is almost time to begin! Starting tonight you may upload videos of you completing the first task. All videos must be submitted through the app by Noon on Sunday. All video time stamps must show that it was done during this time period, and must take place somewhere on campus or in the 2 mile radius surrounding it. If there are questions about allowed locations please refer to the attached map.”

“With all that said… It is time to announce the first task! And that task is… STREAKING!”

“Yes, that's right. For your first task you will be stripping down and baring it all somewhere in public. If that sounds open ended… That’s because it is. The time, place, and all the other details are up to you. The only requirements are being naked and running (we will make an exception for shoes). Though bare (pun intended) in mind that Campus will be voting on what video they like best. So the more daring the more likely you’ll be to get votes! And the better the quality of the video the more fans and bettors you will receive!”

“Best of luck contestants! We can’t wait to see those full moons out this weekend!”

Drew stared in disbelief. She remembered the disclaimer mentioning public nudity, but the first task requiring her to go streaking?!? That was insane. She couldn’t do that. She could lose her scholarship…

Then it dawned on her. She’d already lost that. Her scholarship had been the thing she’d held on so dearly to her previous two years. It had been the reason for so much of what she had done, and in fact not done. And if she wanted it back, and to stay in school she would have to do what the app required. So it meant she was about to find herself naked in public for the first time. Now all she needed to do was figure out when and how.
