Maybe try to get some sense out of the book girl?

You still hesitate to fully think of anyone as a "friend", but Alex is the closest thing you could have to being one. And so logic dictates you should introduce her to others you know. At least they'd bond with each other, and with any luck they might remember you exist. That's the logical way of progressing.

But... something bothers you, and you just can't stop thinking about it. That girl yesterday, with the thick book and the nasty look. What was with her? What drove her to respond to you sitting next to her by accusing you of having some evil intent? You should be repulsed... but there's something intriguing about her that you can't escape. Maybe the presence of Alex will stop her scaring you off again, who knows?

Luckily, Alex agrees to provide moral support, and you find her in the first place you look, which is exactly where you left her. Has she moved at all since yesterday? I mean, obviously she has, but it's fun to think about. More fun than the idea of actually having to deal with her venom again.

Hand in hand, you approach, and unlike yesterday, she notices the sound of two pairs of footsteps instantly and snaps up at you, giving you that judgemental stare again.

"Oh. It's you. What are you doing here?" She acts that accusatory question as if it's a normal greeting.

You glance over to Alex, who doesn't seem to have any words, but squeezes your hand anyway. You'll have to deal with this. "So, uh... I think we got off on the wrong foot yesterday. I wasn't exactly in the best of moods, kind of my fault. And I was hoping we could get along better."

She seems thoroughly unconvinced. "I'll ask you again. What do you want from me?" You may be detecting the slightest hint of an accent coming out in her speech.

"I, uh... I didn't know you needed a purpose to make friends. I thought it was something that just... happened? I guess? Anyway... I'm Rosie, this is Alex... We're here because I wanted all of us to get acquainted with each other."

There's another of those silences. Painful, dragging silences. The kind that eat into you, no matter what the cause, and make you wonder whether you've committed some unspeakable faux pas again. She pushes up her glasses, peering over you... before sinking her face in the book once more.

"If you must know, my name... Seraphine. That's all you need to know. If you don't have any specific plans, I suggest you leave."

You shrug a little at Alex. You tried. At least, you think what you did was called trying.

"Never mind, Rosie. Not everyone's that... stuck-up." She emphasises that last word so Seraphine can hear her. In response, the shorter one peers over the book with a scowl in Alex's direction. "It's not hard to get to know someone in this place. Especially since there isn't exactly a taboo against doing sexual stuff on your own time."

"Speaking of..." She pulls down her buttoned-down shirt just a little, emphasising her cleavage and making your face go red immediately. "What say you we sneak away for a bit of... quality time?"

You can't nod fast enough.
