BW:F Chapter 5

Emil Blonsky’s farm is just upstate, and it’s a lovely piece of land with sweeping views of the hills. The jet touching down spooks some of the goats and kicks up a lot of grass, but otherwise elicits no reaction.

Nat’s watching on the cameras. There’s no movement at all from the white, two-story house with a wraparound porch.

“No rampaging,” Happy says. “That’s a good sign.”

“Coming with us?” Nat asks him.

“Do I look like an Avenger to you? Actually, he’s the only one who looks like one right now. And even that’s debatable,” Happy says with a glance at Spider-Man.

“Thanks, Hap,” Spider-Man replies. “I think.”

“I still only have one shoe,” Jen says sadly. “You owe me new Wolfords,” she adds to Happy.

“Bill it to Tony.”

“I’ll do it,” Jen threatens, pointing a warning finger.

“Can you just go find this guy please?”

He’s right, and Nat is herself again. Maybe getting off was the key. She’s the Black Widow, and she’s had to adapt to far more difficult things than a mere penis. One of the keys to being the best at what she does is not wasting any time being in denial of reality. It is what it is. She’ll deal with it. She can be upset about it, but she can’t let it slow her down.

“Let’s go,” she says, heading for the ramp, which is lowering.

“Are you watching her walk?” Jen asks Spider-Man.

“No!”

Nat emerges into the morning sunlight, followed by Jen and Spider-Man. They don’t look like much, and now Spider-Man is the weird one, although the lady dressed for the courtroom with no shoes on might stick out a little on a farm.

“Ohh,” Jen says. “Cute. I know absolutely nothing about animals.” She hurries to the nearby fence and leans over to pet goats.

Nat stays focused.

“Uh, what do you want me to do, Miss Romanov?” Spider-Man asks.

Nat looks at the ground, the house, the tree line, then the road leading to the property.

“Stay close to the jet. Stay on comms. Listen to your spider tingle,” she replies distractedly.

“That’s… that’s not—OK, Miss Romanov.”

“Thank you.” Nat sniffs the air, frowns, and heads for the house.

“Want me to do the drones?” Happy asks over the radio. “Watch the perimeter?”

“Sure,” Nat replies, hopping the waist-high fence and starting up the front walk. “Nice place he’s got here.”

“His soul mates bought it for him. Am I using this radio right?” Jen asks.

“You’re using it right, Miss Walters,” Happy replies. “Soul mates?”

“Pen pals from when he was locked up. There were seven of them. They seemed nice. They should be here with him,” Jen says.

“There’s nobody here, Jen. A jet just landed in their front yard,” Nat notes.

“Maybe he took them to Fiji,” Happy says.
