Nowhere to hide!
Abbey looked left and looked right. She saw nowhere to hide, no way to cover. All there was was a private property sign telling travelers not to go up to the nearby residents. Meanwhile the voices came closer... closer... any moment they'd come around the corner and see her!
Out of options and out of time, Abbey dove behind the sign. She crouched so it hid her chest, standing awkwardly just as the voices reached her...
