What's next?
Off to work..
With a spring in my step I stroll through the door of the antique shop when something I see chills me.
At the register, is Gertrude which is no surprise. But also beside her is a familiar face. A woman of an almost smoky complexion, a beautiful mix of Spanish and something middle eastern.
The woman with almost amber eyes looks my way.
“Hello Carmen” I say, as I enter.
Her business suit was a bold burgandy but worked for her, with a charcoal jacket overtop. The badge was prominently displayed at her hip.
Carmen was the fiancée of Breanna Houston, the realtor who now is doing her part for staging a home without intending it.
Carmen was also, a city detective.
She smiled warmly. Her lips painted a luscious magenta, but the warm didn’t quite reach her eyes.
“Hello. I wish I could say I was shopping today..” She let her voice trail off.
Gertrude looked my way “Breanna’s missing.” She said flatly.
‘Have you seen her?’ Carmen asked, turning to me fully.
