Time Out : One Thousandth Chapter !

I hope readers will indulge me but I wanted to mark the occasion of the 1000th chapter of Debbi's Shameful Exposures, which this one is. I haven't quite written all 1000 chapters myself, so thanks to those who have also contributed a few, notably dthoris, ApesAmongUs and ewong. I would never have envisaged reaching this total when I first began writing the saga. I had three or four basic scenarios that I wanted to write and get off my chest but somehow Debbi and various subsidiary characters developed a life of their own.

If events in the Debbiverse mirrored real life our heroine would be about 32 by now, having passed through multiple Christmases and Halloweens. But in this world of suspended disbelief, she remains perennially 26. The various threads and timelines exist in parallel even when she metamorphoses into Miz No-E or BimboWAG, threads which I know don't appeal to some fans but which I found fun to write as an alternative view.

Has the quality suffered over the years ? Possibly a little on occasion but maybe that's inevitable. I've just re-read some of the earliest chapters and have been pleasantly surprised at how good they are ( if I say so myself ! ) But these were themes that had been gestating for some time before being written. It naturally became more difficult to keep coming up with new and original ideas without repeating myself too much. But I think it has been largely successful and there hasn't been too much that has been absolute garbage.

Of course, one can't please everyone. Some thought it was all too cruel on Debbi while others wanted the boundaries pushed further. It was never my intention that any of the events would traumatise the character or wreck her life in any way and I hope I depicted her as resilient enough and wrote with enough humour so that that would be obvious. Others have bemoaned the lack of sex. When she has screwed anyone, it's been sort of 'off screen' and kind of implied with before and after scenes. The simple reason for that is that I'm crap at writing sex scenes !

Basically, I've tried to write the kind of stories that I would like to read and when one is writing purely for enjoyment with no monetary gain in view, that is all one can do. I'm sure the time will come when my inspiration does finally dry up completely, which is why I am always open to suggestions, either by PM or in the comments. I certainly don't envisage another 1000 chapters but I shall carry on for a bit yet.
