An Italian coffee problem

Jason, finishes his meal and takes his plate to the dishwasher "can you take our plates as well dear" Lily says, Jason obeys his wife wanting this dinner party to be over, the way Ray looks at him as he grabs his plate makes him want to slam the plate into his face but he contains his rage "this will all be over soon" he reassures himself mentally. "So Ray would you like a Italian coffee?" Lily asks, this was a standard affair after Lily made any pasta dish and while Jason loved it he couldn't help but wish she would skip this and just kick him out, Ray smiles leaning back in his seat "that sounds great".

While Jason loads the dishwasher, Lily gets the coffee machine turned on "How do you like your coffee Ray?" Lily asks him, "Cream, sugar and can you make it a decaf, I try to avoid caffeine so late", Lily is taken back for a second "oh we don't have any decaf coffee, would you make an exception for a regular coffee?" Ray looks at her and then says "no I am pretty strict on no caffeine this late". This is music to Jason's ears "what a shame" he says with mock sincerity, "well if you won't join us for a coffee, would you like to head off" Jason was not being subtle but if Ray wouldn't join for a coffee he would have to leave, "hold on" Lily says "Jason could you nip the store it's only a 10 minute drive, you could pick up some decaf coffee?" Jason's blood froze "well it's a lot of effort just for a coffee, I'm sure Ray wouldn't mind just doing without" he explains, now most decent people would say something along the lines of "no don't trouble yourself, it doesn't matter", but Ray wasn't a decent person he just twisted his face into a shit-eating grin "well a coffee would be a perfect way to cap off such a lovely dinner" he says with a fake sweetness.

Jason looked at his wife who was looking at him with pleading eyes he knew he was now in a lose-lose situation; he didn't want to leave his wife alone with his boss, fearful that he would make an unwanted advance on her, but if he refused to go he looked like the asshole for not going and no doubt Lily would be mad meaning Jason wouldn't get to fuck his wife. With both options being terrible Jason decides to do the one that would keep his wife the happiest, "fine I can go the store" Jason says, his wife looks at him not understanding why this was such a big deal but is happy he's going, "thank you baby" she says squeezing his hand. Once Jason's face was no longer visible he shot Ray a glare that said loud and clear "don't try anything", Ray however seems unfazed by his glare, "drive safe Jason, don't feel like you have to rush to get back here, your wife is good company" he utters his words sweet as honey but were bitter on Jason's ears, "oh stop it" Lily says flattered by the compliment and completely unaware of the animosity between the two men. Jason grabs his coat and keys, "I won't be long" he says as he leaves, hurrying to his car and starting it up with a **** urgency.
