Someone at the door.
“Has anyone been able to get in contact with our friends across the country?” Asked Hawkgirl, looking up at the display screened in the main meeting hall that stood hanging behind the round table. Many of the screens showing static or were just depowered… Likely because someone bit the power cord. “With the way everything just… Happened, I’d hate for this to spread across the country.”
“Or the world!”
Unable to get the equipment up and running, Batman wiped his hands clean of his attempts and got up from the floor, his usual stern expression ever-present as he scowled at the dead television screens.
“Before half of Gotham started braying, I was trying to communicate with Titan Tower. Dick was explaining to me that there were cases of people turning into satyrs out of nowhere on mass… Then he was body tackled by a plump and horned Starfire.”
“Yeah, I can see that happening.” The Flash shrugged. “I’ve been zipping across the globe following my nose until you fixed my horned noggin. There’s been more satyrs spreading out across the countryside after he took a bath in Metropolis’s water supply. After that Buck got some help from the purple witch-bitch you’ve crossed paths with a few times Diana.”
“Circe.” Wonder Woman frowned, her hands at her sides as she went over the ramifications of such a thing. “Dire news indeed.”
“Why would she join Buck?” Asked Vixen, shrugging with all four of her arms. “Apart from her affinity for banging animals?”
“Likely for her amusement. But knowing her, after our last altercation, she would see this as an opportunity to get **** on the gods. The chaos she would cause would be world ending!”
“And with her saturated with satyr magic, she’d be even MORE insane.” Lamented Arthur, stroking his beard in thought. “Even before she was banished from her island, that woman was a menace!”
“Yes…” Mera frowned, clutching at her husband’s arm. “I once sent a delegate of diplomats to her island to offer an olive branch, in the hopes there would be some semblance of peace between the people of Poseidon and his wayward daughter. Instead, she sent them back to be as puffer fish.”
“GASP! SHE did that?!” Arthur looked back to his wife in shock. “You told me they swam into a forbidden magical sinkhole!”
“Well… Was I wrong?” Mera asked with a not so convincing look.
“YES! On so many levels. Why would you want to speak with that woman?”
“She and I have the same contempt for fishermen.” Separating from Arthur, Mera rested her hands at her wide hips, pointing an accusing finger at her husband’s chest. “What? Are you upset that I’m trying to make friends outside of Atlantis?”
“Who would want to be friends with Circe?! You just said she turned my best diplomats into fish.”
“Well, I didn’t KNOW she’d do that to our own people.”
“I mean, you couldn’t make friends with any other surface dweller. I’d be less mad if you decided to hang around with surfers and beachcombers. At least THEM I can take for trying to talk to my wife.”
“Oh, so NOW its an ego thing to you?” Mera frowned, her flipper tail snapping behind her. “And when did beach combers and surfers become your first go to? Have you been fraternizing with bikini wearing bimbos behind my back?”
“THEY don’t turn my people into fish when I’m looking for friends who like good waves, great music and drinking all day and night.” Arthur declared, slowly making a grin. “Plus, they’re easy on the eyes.”
“SURFACE DWELLER MAN-WHORE!”
“SEA-KAREN!”
“SHAMOO MUTHERFUCKER!”
“RED-HAIRED SUCCUBUS!”
Breathing hard and staring daggers at each other, the king and queen of Atlantis were silent for seconds before they collided in a mass of fur, muscle and blubber and began to make out furiously. The sight of which made everyone else look squeamish at their passion, even more so when Mera broke the kiss for only a moment to say in a low tone of voice. “I want to go back to the pool and make chowder with my big strapping king!”
“I know what clams I’LL be eating!”
Seeing the large and horned couple go back to making out furiously in front of everyone, the Flash leaned over for only Martian Manhunter to hear. “Were they like this before or after they turned into gnarl whale people?”
“Honestly its hard to tell with those two. Also, I don’t pry into your love lives like the Batman does.”
“It’s true.” Batman piped in, walking past the two. “I have detailed files on all of your relationships just in case.”
“In case of what?” Flash guffawed; his arms outstretched. “What scenario requires you to keep an eye on our sex… Life…” Looking around to find them all surrounded by dozens of their adult kids in their current state, Barry’s arms quickly fell to his sides and the air blew out of his proverbial sails. “You know what? You get that one for free.”
“Hey! Are we expecting company?” Called out one of Diana’s daughters staring out the window out to the city. The rest of the satyresses looking out with her and squeezing against each other to make room to see outside. “Is that Hecate?!”
“What?”
Storming her way over to the window herself and nearly shoving her daughters out of the way to do so, Wonder Woman looked out the windows to find the Halls of Justice surrounded by thousands of wild satyrs. Their attention ALL on the building and staying put just outside the property thanks to Martian Manhunter’s powers. The sight of them made the amazon princess gasp. They were enormous. Especially the one at the head of the group being pampered by a group of satyresses pawing and cooing over the lead bull satyr like groupies at a concert.
“Who’s that guy?” Asked Hestia, trying to lean it to see what her mother was looking at.
“That, my daughter… Is your father; Buck.”
