Chapter 7 by jealco jealco

A quick trip to the bathroom to tie the strip, or pressing onwards towards her goal?

Try to tie the strip

With a sigh, Donna turned toward the bathroom in the back left corner of the library. She hadn't considered this possibility when she'd made the dress, and, while the idea of her dress "accidentally" disintegrating was absolutely exciting, she did need it to stay intact until she had the book she needed, at least. She had to appear to be attempting to stay modest until then, at least.

She set off toward the bathroom, headed down the left wall of the library. Excitement or not, she didn't want to walk the main aisle, at least not yet. There weren't a lot of people in the library, but she still wanted to minimize being seen for the moment. While there were reading and study alcoves along the wall, if anyone was at them there was a better chance of them being distracted by what they were doing, and thus leaving her in peace for now. No sense in making it easier for some prude to complain loudly about her attire!

Luckily for her, there was only one person sitting on that side of the library, a young, bespectacled man with his nose buried in a stack of books, constantly scribbling notes on a notepad. He was in the last alcove, and she quietly breezed past, the only thing announcing her passing being the faint slap of her flip-flops against her heels.

The man didn't seem to have noticed her passing, something which made Donna quietly sigh with relief. She continued to the bathroom door, only to discover it locked, with a sign on the door stating the bathrooms were closed for the next week due to plumbing problems beneath the building!

Donna was immediately torn between two feelings, one of annoyance at not having the privacy she needed to fix her dress, the other of excitement at having to find another place in the library with which to make the repair. Three options popped into mind. The first was the small study room upstairs. If it wasn't occupied, she could shut herself in there for a few minutes. There was also the basement. The library's lighting wasn't particuarly bright to begin with, which is why the study alcoves were along the walls, beneath windows, but the basement was particularly dim. Something about needing money to upgrade the wiring down there. The last option was to abandon fixing the strip and start the search for her book.

To the study room, the basement, or off to find the book she needed?
