The Joust
Jousting
The first few tilts of the joust were relatively easy, almost all the names were unknown to yourself but from the armour that they wore compared to your own it was easy to see that they were lesser untrained nobles and hedge knights.
You looked at the ranks to see your next tilt and this time you saw a name that you recognised the name up against your own was Ser Criston Cole. He couldn't have been Kingsguard yet or you would've seen him around the castle.
You suited up in your black plate steel armour encrusted with rubies in the Targaryen crest and then mounted your horse for the tilt. Now that the numbers in the joust had gotten to the last 16 the other royal Targaryens and the highest members of the court had made their way to the grandstands. You could see Viserys, Alicent and Rhaenyra all sat together.
Now who would you give your favour too, a strategic decision for what would work best on the two young ladies that you had set your eyes on. Then it was obvious you needed to make Rhaenyra jealous and flatter Alicent. Rhaenyra always the centre of attention would be expecting it and so by not giving her that she'd want you more and by flattering Alicent you'd grow her crush on you.
You rode over to the centre grandstand.
"My lady, I'm fairly certain that I will win this tilt but your favour would all but assure it" You say in a cocky manner that would match the Targaryen Prince's nature.
Alicent takes a step back and picks up a wreath. Both her in a light blue dress and Rhaenyra in red looked fantastic and you couldn't wait to see what they were hiding underneath. Rhaenyra gave you a little side-eye and you could see the jealousy in her eyes of not being chosen by yourself.
"Good luck, my Prince," Alicent blushed dropping the wreath around your lance.
You took your place at the end of the course preparing yourself for the joust. Now you knew that you wouldn't win the joust through any means of skill against a fighter like Ser Criston and so you picked a tactic that Loras Tyrell had told you about in the camp before the battle of the Blackwater.
Your Mare in heat had already been getting the stallions around the joust rowdy and now as you charged down the tilt lance in hand you could see Ser Criston Cole's Stallion becoming jumpy and pulling not at his command and then you struck hitting his shield and clearing him straight off of his horse.
With a thump Ser Criston Cole hit the floor and moaned in pain and anguish before rising to his feet and calling for his morning star. He marched towards you and you dismounted grabbing Dark Sister and running towards the injured Ser Criston Cole.
He hit you with the morning star but the strike was weak and you rammed your shoulder into his chest knocking him back off his feet. Placing Dark Dister at his neck.
"I Yield!" Ser Criston Cole shouted and the crowd applauded and screamed your name.
The plan didn't exactly work the way you had hoped however as when the equipment inspection was done after the tilt you were disqualified for your little trick and Ser Criston was allowed to carry on to the next tilt.
