(Find the right character for your story!)

The following is a supplement to the Author Character Guide. While the Character Guide (the previous chapter!) should help you get a refresher of each character in Billy’s story, this Character Finder should help you find the right one for any specific purpose you have in mind.

Essentially, the following page should save you time and make it so you don’t have to read through everything to find the right character for your chapter. Where The Character Guide gives you information and links to relevant chapters for any character you want to learn about or remind yourself of, this Character Finder will help you when you don’t already know which person you want to use or learn about yet.

Enabling Game Mode is required (on the right!), which will put you back to the start of the story. Then navigate back to this page to use the Character Finder.

Each click of a chapter on the Character Finder will narrow the selection down further and further until you find out which character fits the role that you want - or, if nobody does, until you’re sure that you won’t be making a duplicate of an existing character when you create one to fill your purpose! Keep narrowing down the selection until you have what you want, then refer back to the Author Character Guide to learn more details about the one that catches your eye. Remember, command+f (ctrl+f for windows) is your friend!

If that sounds confusing, just give it a try and it will all make sense. It should be very intuitive.

As always, if putting this much thought into your writing is making it more stressful than fun, don’t! I have no problem with “duplicate” characters appearing whatsoever. But if you have more fun when your chapters feel connected to other peoples’, this should help you do that a bit easier and faster!

Billy himself, as the main character, is not included in this Character Finder. This tool is for finding characters to interact with him/in his world.
