Regrets I have a few

I sent a secure message to Aleksey that Matt Cole had officially left the house on Grant Street and was going to be residing at the new house tonight. It seemed that Matt and Madison had never caught onto my bugs and tracking chips, which was good for me but bad for them. 

I sighed. Matt was a nice guy, if incredibly easy to manipulate. All you had to do was look at his history, which he freely talks about, and see that his weakness is doing the right thing and women. 

She really didn't want to hurt him, but she didn't have much of a choice. Aleksey was a very powerful member of the Church of Apollyon. They had found out she worked for the same company as Matt and threatened my family, going as far as torturing my uncle, to show that they were serious unless I helped them. 

I had to get a position near him in the company, and I was able to come up with the AI project to get even closer to him. I wasn't expecting him to be such a good person based on the warnings I got from Aleksey's group; I was expecting to be mind-controlled, ****, and turned into a sex ****, but that didn't happen at all. 
Matt had really wanted to help people with the AI project and, more importantly, wanted me to reap the benefits. He was constantly talking about how it was my work that made it possible for the project to exist. He was right, but he never tried to take credit or cut me out of money. 

In another life, we could have been friends, maybe even more than that, but the cold, hard facts were that I had well-connected killers who were ready to off my whole family tree if I didn't help them capture Matt. They had tried killing him once, thinking he was more of a liability; she still felt bad about that and the fact that they used that poor ****-addicted girl to do it. God, when I went and saw him burned and bedridden in the hospital, it made my chest hurt. I couldn't believe I had been a part of that. 

I received a message back from the COA (Church of Apollyon). They couldn't wait any longer for Matt's capture; they were worried he would setup defenses at the new house or learn how to use his powers more. They wanted to strike tonight. They needed her to confirm his whereabouts and get them the layout of the house and the property. 

They didn't need or want me there when they were going to capture him. But my usefulness to them still remained; my ability to hack his communications and track his location so that they had an accurate target was invaluable to them. 

I was told there would be a team of about 6–8 people to capture him, including Aleksey's best hunters, Dmitry and Maksim, both brutish but skilled trackers and trained in multiple types of combat, from blades to blunt objects. They had been one of the few I had the displeasure of meeting in person; it was a way of letting me know that if I betrayed them, it wouldn't just be my family that would suffer, but those two would make sure that I didn't escape my own punishment. 

I finished my report and sent it off to the COA, wishing there was something I could do. I felt so helpless, and I was terrified of these people and what they would do if I betrayed them. I continued to think of something I might be able to do to help Matt without giving myself away...
