As long as you'd known Tegan, you'd known Mimi. She was never afraid to speak her mind and always stood up to bullies. That's probably why Tegan liked her so much. You had to admit that she was a great friend, too. She'd helped you with the proposal and the sparkle in her eyes when you told her about proposing was a genuine joy to you.

You'd all been through and helped each other through tough times. So when Mimi said she needed a place to get away from an abusive boyfriend, she didn't even need to ask. She just showed up at your door with bruises and you guys rushed her in. You had half a mind to go beat the guy's ass, but Tegan and Mimi convinced you to stay.

She'd been there about a week now and things had gotten into a good rhythm. She needed time to relax. Feel safe. She'd taken some time off from work to just recoup. Tegan did the same thing. You didn't feel good about leaving the two of them at the house, knowing about Mimi's ex, but, yet again, they convinced you to go. Arguing with one of them was hard, but when they were a united front, things became impossible.
