Baking some Cookies

Over the next week, Robin settled back into his usual routine, but the discomfort of his old clothes constantly tickled the back of his mind. Eventually, he would barely notice it anymore, getting used to being uncomfortable.

John seemed to be back to his old self again and Robin was pleased to see that he was in better spirits than he had been for some time. Even though their night out the previous week ended on a down note, John had hardly brought up his ex since, which Robin took as a victory.

It was a Thursday night when Robin was scrolling through his phone and saw an ad for some cookies, which encouraged him into the kitchen to see if they still had some flour. Pleased to see he had what he needed, he got to work, putting on a playlist he liked to use while baking.

Robin was busily stirring the batter when he felt large hands on his shoulders, "Fuck!" he screamed fumbling the bowl.

John was fast, wrapping his arm around Robin's waist and grabbing the bowl before Robin completely lost his grip. Robin settled the bowl down on the kitchen counter, "Jesus Christ, I need to put a damn bell on you."

"Sorry," John sheepishly apologized though he didn't step away, one hand still on Robin's shoulder while the other rested on the counter. John's warm breath tickled Robin's ear, "Are you making chocolate chip cookies again?"

Robin felt John lean into his back as he peaked around to take a look into the bowl, "Yeah, though now I kind of want to pick up some stuff for molasses cookies."

"Molasses?" John said with skepticism. He could smell the lingering flowery scent of Robin's shampoo, finding it pleasant but out of place.

"You like them, I've made them before," he said as he started to stir again, noticing that John was still wrapped around him.

"If you say so," John reached a finger toward the bowl but Robin slapped his hand away.

Robin pushed his shoulder into John's chest, "Get away from my dough! Did you even wash your hands? Get out of my kitchen!"

"It's our kitchen," John laughed.

"Not right now it's not," Robin shook his head as John stepped away but not before sliding his hand from Robin's shoulder down along his back. The touch was momentary but it gave Robin pause before he got back to work.

Once he was finished with the cookies, he put some in a tin to bring to work. John was kind enough to clean the mess to earn his share of the baked goods, so Robin used that time to do his laundry. Once they were washed and dried, he was gathering them into a basket when he felt the divine softness of the pink pajamas as he pulled them out. His eyes widened as he quickly shoved them into the basket, making sure John didn't see. Sure that they were hidden, he grabbed the basket and hurried into his room, quickly wishing John a goodnight.

Once inside, Robin looked around his room, making sure the door was locked and the curtains were drawn. His heart pounded as he picked up the pajamas and placed them on the bed. Robin just looked at them for a long time, his feet stuck in place.

"They're just clothes. It's not a big deal," he whispered, convincing himself it was harmless. He tossed off his clothes and hesitantly slipped into the pink pajamas, the cool fabric instantly soothing his skin. Once he turned off the light and climbed into bed, he felt oddly at peace as he drifted off to sleep.
