The of an Uncle
Renly Dies
It had been a few days since whatever you had witnessed in the caves of Dragonstone. The day after the demon shadow was birthed a raven flew in from Storm's End telling the tale of how Renly Baratheon had been murdered by one of his King's guard but you knew the truth that whatever form of magic you had created with Melisandre was responsible.
You felt awful, Renly had always been a good uncle to you but the attempt to steal your father's crown was treason, you had just wished that something less drastic could have been made or a compromise.
Sat in your family's seat of Storm's End you felt like you didn't really belong, your family had lived here for centuries but Dragonstone had been your home and where you were raised.
What added to the anxiety was that the Tyrells were a day's ride from the gates of Storm's End with a **** multiple times larger than your fathers even with the Stormlands men at arms. Stannis wasn't worried however when you met at the council chambers.
"I held this castle against Mace Tyrell once before and I can hold it again," Stannis said.
"Aye your grace but that doesn't help us take King's landing," Davos Seaworth said as he closed a wooden window to keep the storm winds out.
"Well what would you have me do? We can't meet them in the field," Stannis said looking at Davos, you and then the Red Woman. "And what have you seen in the flames that can perhaps help us with this?" he finished.
"I can only see what the lord of light reveals to me," Melisandre said and Stannis shook his head.
"Father, I am yet to be wed and Tyrells still want Margaery to be Queen. Well we could offer a marriage alliance like Renly had in mind,"
"Aye I do believe Jack is right," Davos said.
"Mace Tyrell is a traitor for wanting to back Renly and now you want to offer to seat his future grandchildren on the Iron Throne," Stannis said assertively.
"Technically your grace the Tyrells never took up arms against us," Davos said.
You could see your father struggling within his rigid mind. A pragmatic man would easily accept this proposal but Stannis did not forgive and he did not forget traitors.
"Fine if this is what you would have me do, we shall offer Jack to the Tyrells," Stannis said through strained teeth.
